I would add that my surgeon doesn't like eggs in the soft food stage, not sure why.... I'm at a loss :(

Mine recommends them. :)

I was stuck at same weight for over 10 days. It's a bummer!! I just kept believing I was doing the right things and it would happen. And today ( which is my four week anniversary) I lost another pound. I'd love more but thrilled to see the scale move again. It will for you too- hang in there!

So far, I've lost 7,1 kg since the Sunday before the surgery. If I spend the next seven days stalled and lose another 7 kg this month, I'll still consider this a win.

I also was told I drinking 30 min before and 30 after which is a challenge cause I want to drink, yet struggle the rest of the day to get my liquids in... crazy.

im eating more solid foods, turkey burger for dinner last night with a small amount of fat free cheese. I manage about 3.5 oz burger and a few soft veggies. Takes about 35 min to eat that.

going to a support meeting wed so I'm looking for ideas because the dr said to eat low fat, low sugar others say watch carbs but the yogurt recommended in my plan is cannon Greek triple zero but has 15g carbs which I thought was kind of high.

So im sticking to the lean turkey for burgers, egg beaters with fat free ham for now until I can figure out how to be more creative without blowing the fat or carb count!

I stalled at three weeks, then all of a sudden it started to move again, when I started to increase my calories. I'm at 5 weeks, and have lost a further 7lb since the 3 week stall. Somedays I lost 2lb and then the next day I put it back on!! Frustrating but getting there - it's like a game your body plays with you.

I feel much better now but still hate meal times, couple of mouth fulls and food gets stuck. i struggle with Protein and Water and get depressed, but today I walked into a normal size dress shop and was able to try on clothes that fitted me!

Also I've bough a Fitbit which is great as a food journal, exercise tracker etc., love it.

Good luck everyone we will get there. Dont let yourself get demotivated. Fight back, and think positively xx

I just phoned my surgeon's office and they told me that they expect that when I come in to see my surgeon for my six-week check on Friday the 13th, that I should lose the same amount of weight I had before, so to be down roughly 16 lbs more to make a total of 32 lbs.

Maybe you should journal - in case you don't drop it maybe they can help figure out why!?

I know this may be the wrong way to think but i don't want to journal. I was just hoping that I could live like a normal person after I got the surgery. And not have to count calories and not have to journal and not have to stress about all of the stuff! I guess that's just not realistic.

Sorry don't think it works like that 😩. Perhaps when you get to where you want to be then you can relax and just live your life calorie free. 😊

You may not want to journal, but you have to journal. There is so much that could go wrong after surgery and journaling helps you diagnose when it's gone wrong, as well as where it went wrong, how it went wrong and how to get back on track.

Hi, I'm an August sleever!!! Surgery date 8/31.... I've been feeling great until today, it's been a tough one. Definitely not getting my Protein in today otherwise it hasn't been an issue. Feel nauseous as soon as I sip.... Will try again tomorrow

I get to start mushy foods tomorrow and I am stoked. The ricotta bake was nice and soft scrambled eggs were okay, but I'm ready to eat something new.

I'm continuing to track positively everything I eat and drink (even sugar free gum, even Vitamins, even hot tea) on MyFitnessPal and it does help. There are days where I get a little carried away early in the day and it helps to know I need to have a lower calorie or lower carb dinner. It's extraordinarily helpful in tracking Protein, too.

Plus--and let's be real here--all of us going down this road have WAY too much anxiety on our hands and spend INSANE amounts of time thinking and worrying about it. Having the food journaling as a little obsessive place I can focus some of that nervous energy is probably a good thing.

Doc says I can start stage 4 soft foods today. I cannot find anything appealing to eat. I'm nervous as hell. I'm also tired of the same old foods. I'm making crockpot lasagna in the crockpot for the family. I was thinking about swiping some of the ricotta and sauce out of it when it's done. I'm afraid too though. Anyone have suggestions? I've had my fill of cream Soups, egg whites, SF pudding, I do not like Jello and drinking anymore of the Protein Shake today is not appealing at all.

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL
