VSG Post-Op Food - 3 Weeks Out

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone!

I wanted to check in with some of you veterans that have had VSG and ask for your help with food suggestions during the 6 week post-op phase. I am currently 3 weeks out form surgery and am following the diet recommendations from my doctor but there is no mention of any scrambled eggs in the first 6 weeks. Scrambled eggs have always been one of my Protein staples that I tolerate very well. I really don't enjoy the sweet taste of most of the Protein Shakes and want to get on to eating "real" food sources for protein as soon as possible.

Do any of you have suggestions for good protein sources that come from real food that can be eaten between week 3-6?

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you!

I'm in my 3rd week post op as well. My phase III meal plan consist of the following Protein choices:
Scramble eggs, egg beaters, egg whites, cottage cheese, low fat cheese, tuna, chicken, salmon, scallops, crab, shrimp, tilapia. ( 2 to 3 oz only).
Good luck to you on this new and excited journey.

I was instructed to do one week clears, 2 week full liquids, before progressing to puree, where scrambled eggs are ok. Funny how so many have different post op diets.

I have noticed there are very different diets restrictions too. I think I will try one scrambled egg to see if I have any issues. I am sticking to my diet closely but know i need to find some acceptable ways to get more Protein. Thank you both for your feedback and good luck!

i did decide to have one scrambled egg for the last two mornings and everything went down well. The Protein seemed to stick with me until lunch. This new way of eating is taking some getting used to but I am still so happy I did the surgery!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
