Hi ,

Anyone out there done the 5 Day Re-Set program. I sure needed it. Mu surgery was on Oct. 12 2015. Start weight 268, pre-surg. 257, lowest after surgery 196, last 5 months up to 218, so a somewhat recent gain 22 LBS. I had gotten sloppy . Plain and simple. I was slowly letting sugar back in, breads. I really dont have much dumping. So that obviously can be good and bad. As you guys know, after like a year and a half, (well my experience) , you can eat then three hours later ....you could eat again.

So to make a long story short....I tried the 5 Day Pouch Re-set. (you dont have to have a pouch- I don't even know what that really means) but the 5 Day Re-Set puts you back to eating the way you did your first 5 days out of surgery. You can lookit up , but basically Day 1& 2 liquids, Protein Drinks, diet jellos , puddings, veggie juices. Day 3 , add yogurts, soft tuna, eggs, cottage cheese. Day 4 more Proteins added hamburger meat, chicken, etc. By then your carb cravings do decrease......and this starts to feel like your new normal way to eat again. Day 5 all proteins added back in. I am happy to say , I am not having cravings. I DO feel like this is my new normal to be back to having my Protein Shake, no- cal liquids, ( except I do make a tea with a bit of coffee mate and a splenda blend that has like 10 calories- Its like a low cal milk tea), yougurts, eggs, good proteins. It has returned my way of thinking to back when I was just a few months out of surgery. I am happy to say I am back down to 212 lbs. SO, a 6 lb. weight loss . If you have sort of gone off the rails a bit, try the 5 Day Pouch Re-set. I have to admit I tried it 2 X before and only lasted like one day. But when You really start drinking your Water, a Protein Drink, and let your sleeve really work for you - and go back to basics, this really helped me out and put me back on the right track. Let me know of your experiences , if anyone has tried this. I am thinking I may do this once a month to keep me in check!!! I feel fantastic!!

All the best to each and every one of YOU!

Hi sorry i miss understood your surgery was 2015 and the lowest you got was 196 in the 2 years? is that what your saying?

that 6lbs weightloss will be alot of Water weight from carb reduction but keep it up! its a great boost! But yes anyone having issues should go back to dense Protein which is what works for your pouch. congrats :)

I personally do not believe in all the resets, people gain from eating too much sliders, ( apart rom usual stall) stop sliders go back to just protein first and weigh your food alot simpler than a 'pouch reset that does not actually reset anything' and you will feel the restriction right from the start :) but good you found what works for you

Thank you. I needed this. I was sleeved sept 2015 and have also let myself get back into old habits. My psw was 294 I got down to 197 and am now 207. Ashamed to say the least. I let an injury, a death in the family and marital stress become my reason stress eating. This surgery is a tool not a solution on its own. It takes hard work on our part and getting real with the reasons we got this way to begin with. I spent 2 hours at the rec today, 4 miles of "getting real with my head walking" and I'm starting my liquid diet/reset. I know I can do better and get back on track

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!
