Is Post sleeve diet similar to Keto diet?

Recommended Posts

Hi! As school is getting ready to vamp up, I am trying to prepare for the year. My family is extremely picky and I know I need to start now making changes in their diet so they can support me. I am only 10 days post op but I was looking to build my meal planning box. Was curious if those that are further out see any similarities between Keto diets and the eating requirements post sleeve. Do you have a favorite website for recipe ideas? It would be great if I could cook once and eat a small portion and my family could have normal portions. Thanks for your help.

I am going to talk to my nutritionist because it seems a lot of people are doing Keto postop, my only concern is the fat intake and whether it can be tolerated postop. There are so many keto books and recipes on Amazon for kindle free.

I'm curious about this also... I have been thinking about the coming school year and getting ready for meal planning.

Most definitely contact your nutritionist. Everyone's diet plan seems to be so different. Dieting is hopefully behind you. You now need to eat as healthy as you can. Think of an eating plan you can sustain. I know there are a lot of people that are into the Keto plan. Not me. I eat very little of breads and rice. I haven't had any Pasta (6 month post-op). For me there is no nutritional value from them and they take up valuable space in my new tummy. My nutritionist doesn't want me to worry about carbs and fat. She wants me to focus on my Protein. Good luck on your journey

You don't have to follow any particular plan post-op.

You want to focus on dense Protein that is baked, broiled, grilled etc. Followed by veggies, green veggies.

That is about it, simple clean eating.

My intention to is to serve whole healthy foods that I can have a bit of. I have to feed 5-7 people a night in my house. How our post op eating compares to Keto is avoiding most carbs (except veggies). However, keto "diets" ask for high fat. High Protein with some good fats is what we need. Since our tummies are small, we need to focus on our protein first, to survive.

Im hoping that when school starts I can eat meat. That will help.

I'm in the uk. And our plan isn't Keto. Just balanced. I've been told not to follow keto or low carb from my nut. I do love keto alternatives.

Hi all!!! Im due to be sleeved on 8-21-17. Im excited and a lil nervous but am anticipating the out come. I just wanted to share some information per the Keto Lifestyle. I practiced the Keto lifestyle and it worked very well. My challenge was getting into ketosis, (keto flu) and staying there to become fully fat adapted. By the time I got to that point I began having issues with heel spurs and from the pain and stress, was knocked out Ketosis. But it really works if your disciplined. I definitely am continuing the Ketogenic lifestyle along with (IF) again full blown after surgery when im fully healed since I will already have began 2 weeks pre-op. I think it's great for those who hit plateaus in losing. Below is a link I believe will give you more insight. Good luck with your journey!

:) Now i have had the sleeve i cant imagine for me to be able to fit in the amount of food i need if i did IF, though i did it before you could fit in what you needed in your eating window but i find no matter how long i go without food i wont be able to fit in anymore in that one sitting so end up not having enough als overall for the day. So would love to see how you get on with if and hat plan of if you were going to try, eg one meal a day i cant see that working for me but like 16/18 is doable probs

My husband eats Low Carb High Fat (LCHF). He eats high fat, moderate Protein, and low carb. I eat high protein, moderate fat and low carb. It works well for us because we make one meal...he then adds some extra butter or oil or other healthy fat to his plate.

Go to meals are Taco bowls, Egg Bakes, Baked pork chops, meatloaf, Fat Head pizza

You can find lots of recipes if you google LCHF

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
