Habits for WLS success after restriction eases up

Recommended Posts

For those who are post op, what new habits do you have (or old ones did you give up) that have made your WLS a success?

For me, fast food is no longer a daily part of my diet, I can't even remember the last time I went through a drive thru. Grazing, in general, is greatly reduced as well.

Well my restriction is the same as a sleever.

Weigh my food, track my calories. Do not eat my feelings.

No fast food for me either. Being from Texas my "weakness" was sweet tea! I drank it every day. Now I am drinking unsweet tea or with splenda in it. Even though I have had the ByPass, I have not had issues with "dumping" due to sweets....(I ate a cookie to see if it would effect me and it didn't). My food intake is restricted, but not as much as I wish it would be! I had a revision from sleeve to bypass and there is no difference in my food restriction as far as I can tell. My problem has always been eating when I am not hungry (or grazing) and this is something I need to work on or I will not have a successful weight loss.

Oh interesting.. I didn't realize that about the sleeve! I assumed the extreme restriction in the first few months after RNY was due to swelling and that it would be the same for those who are sleeved.

Well I am two months in with the RNY as of yesterday and for last couple of weeks I have not lost any weight, I am concerned about that. I have been able to eat a little more now but that should not stall my weight loss. I am 48 lbs. down since May 18th. Can't figure out why the plateau so soon, I have given up a lot no fast food, limited starch, etc. was hoping to have lost more by now. Any advice would be appreciated.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
