My surgery is on Monday the 21st. So ready to get it over with! On day 11 of liquid pre op diet. It stinks but isn't horrible. I lost 7 pounds in the first 2 days but haven't lost a ton since then and that is discouraging me a bit! I'm down a total of 9. Anyone else have this problem?

So here I am 2 days post op- my doctor had to repair a hiatal hernia and most of the soreness is at that site. I've been walking since I was brought up from recovery so most of the shoulder pain is gone. My main problem is gas - I'm sucking down gas x pills. No other real issues but I am struggling getting down the 34 oz minimum liquids my doctor said, because after every swallow is severe gas. Oh well tomorrow is another day.

I'm one day post op and had to try to get 48oz of liquid. I did fine as long as it Water. I tried chicken broth and got so nauseous. Guess I'll try the clear Protein Drinks tomorrow. Best wishes for a speedy recovery!

One thing that makes me worry is the fact that the patient information notebook they gave me is that there is no liquid diet and the only admonishment diet-wise pre-op is that (a) no eating or drinking anything after twelve midnight on the day of surgery, (b) you should quit caffeine because withdrawal is going to be a b***h in the hospital (got that down) and (c) you can't gain weight between the time you have your surgeon's consult and your pre-admit (or pre-op?) appointment.

Well my surgery went well, the recovery has been tough. Since I'm prob to nausea they have been giving me anti-nausea meds. Two bouts of vomiting which nothing came up. They considered keeping me one more night, but decided to let me go home. The gas pain was real but walking helped a great bit.

That's rough that you are recovering from both surgeries, but good you were able to get another issue fixed at the same time. After my second c-section I had HORRIBLE gas pain. The only thing that helped me at that time was walking, and knowing that it would eventually pass. Hang in there! This will all be a distant memory before you know it.

I'm two days post op. Have you tried gas x? A possible side effect of zofran is headache. I'm still nauseous and having a hard time drinking but sip, sip, sip. Hopefully we'll get there soon......

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
