I'm going to talk about my poop now.

Recommended Posts

I'm 6 weeks post-op and I haven't had a solid one yet. I poo every 3-4 days and when I do, it's pretty much an emergency. Straight liquid. Please tell me this doesn't last forever....

Everyone is a bit different but I recall my dietician saying "liquid in, liquid out"

I did pretty much have that problem until I was able to start eating more solid foods - then I had the opposite problem - but now that I am 5 months post-op, things seem to be fairly normal.

I have this very issue as well.. most of mine are liquid-like.

- Drinking a lot of Water can cause it

- Medications (3 of my medications cause loose stools)

- Dietary changes

- Insufficient Fiber

- Illness

Since you're not going every few hours, I don't think it's really a huge issue of something that would cause dehydration like certain illnesses. Just mention it to a doctor when doing a follow-up.

I had to use laxative when I was on liquids and now I have regular bm each day naturally.

I don't do a lot of sugar free stuff. I can't remember the last time I did, actually. I eat a decent amount of vegetables and almost no fruit except a bite or two from a platter now and then. I even went off Keto and upped my whole grains a bit to see if it helped to bulk up on carby fiber. No luck. Still just what my kid calls "butt water." Haha

Because you only get a movement every few days, it may be the body's way of emergency evacuating everything. You know this is the case if there are solid chunks surrounded by Water. If it is pure water... then I'm less sure.

Maybe try a fiber supplement every day and see where that gets you. Probiotics are always a good thing too.

Examining your diet to see if there is something you are eating that might point to a cause.

And if you can't seem to get things normalized, of course mention it to your doc since they may want to recommend something else or run tests.

Good luck!

I came here for the title because it made me laugh. I'm having a similar issue. I didn't go for 7 days after surgery and it was pitiful! Hopefully we can get back to normal sooner than later.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
