5 day after surgery still no bowel moment

Recommended Posts

I have been on Doc-q-lace to counter the Constipation of the Percocet. I did not have any BMs until today (day 4) when I went 3 times 😳 Try some milk of magnesia or a laxative if you aren't on one yet.

Are you walking? That helps, plus lots of Water and no narcotics will improve the plumbing. I also take Peri-Colace stool softener at bedtime.

I was 10 days before going. Doc told me to take stool softener (colace). It worked in a day and was gentle on stomach.

Take a stool softner daily if needed, I use Laxido (I'm Scotland tho so use whatever is available in your area).

Trust me, you don't want constipation

Struggled with this too! I take the prescription stool softener the hospital provided, plus two metamucil at night. My doctor also recommended adding a probiotic to restore healthy gut flora.

This is a little weird, but if you have a small stool, when you're ready to go, put your feet up on the stool while you're on the toilet so you recreate a sort of squatting position. It really helps your body naturally move everything along without the need to use the abdominal muscles to "help". I made the idiot mistake of forcing myself to go after 8 days and may have popped a stitch.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
