Me too. I find myself putting off my alarm when it's time for that one. I eventually take it, just hate doing it. But, it has been doing me good.

Yes, it does helps with our recovery. My family says i look happy and not stressed out. So i guess It's helping.

When are you allowed to do puree foods?

On week three I am allowed puréed meats and Soups and fruit smoothies. I will be sticking with mostly berries because they have less sugar.

So ladies I was wondering.. do you know approximately how long it takes for the stitches to fall off and for the cuts to heal? And how do i know if I'm taking good care of it.. they are dry and have no pain at all so i guess i'm good? I've been out and about but i dont pick up anything heavy except maybe like 2 times.

I'm not sure. All I know is to leave the steri strips on until they fall off on their own, or the doc will check at my first post op appt to see if they need to come off. Mine are peeling off now. Except the one with the most pain. But I've noticed the pain has subsided even more so today. I'm happy about that. Still taking it easy too.

Mine are dry also and I have one smaller incision that looks almost completely healed. I think as long as there is no pain and no redness or oozing they are fine. I have lots of bruising around my incisions. Anyone else have this?

I failed to share this earlier. Went to church this morning. I had three people say "you look really good". And it wasn't a body thing, they all motioned the face. Isn't that something? A couple of them don't know I had surgery, one did.

I do on two of them. Typical of surgery. I've had a few laparoscopic surgeries before and it's always that way for me.

I've already thought, I'm putting my essential oils as soon as they're off too.

Ok that is good to know it is normal.

My surgeon video taped my surgery and gave it to me on a thumb drive. I tried to watch it tonight and had to stop after about 5 minutes in. Something about knowing the tissue that was bleeding was mine was making me queezy . Seeing him lift my liver up and using gauze inside my abdomen was just too much. I found myself thinking I hope he didn't leave any inside me. I really want to watch the whole thing. Maybe in a few weeks I'll be able to do it.

Is that the name of the oil?

No there are several essential oils that would be great for healing the skin. I currently have some lavender on hand, but others would work good too. I put a diffuser on my night stand every night with a Breathe Blend by doTerra oils. It's helped with sinuses, etc. I really didn't want to deal with coughs, etc during the healing time.

Back to the skin....

"Essential oils like lavender, rosemary and myrrh have antibacterial and healing properties. An enzyme found in pineapple which reduces swelling. A powerful antioxidant that helps manufacture collagen, critical for healing damaged blood vessels. Apply tea tree oil to cuts and scrapes daily."
Here's a more detailed list of oils for reducing scars/healing the skin.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
