Running/jogging after surgery

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone. I am just over 3 weeks post op right now and I'm curious if any of you started running or jogging for exercise after surgery and when you started doing so.

I'm a runner (I love it) I have not been running for a couple months and I'm really missing it now. I would like to start back up soon but not sure when would be a good time. My doctors office said I could resume a regular fitness regime at 2 weeks post op just no heavy lifting for 4 to 6 weeks.

Thanks in advance for the advice!

I got the same advice. At my 3 week checkup, the surgeon said to just stay at a walk. 4 week checkup with the nurse gave me the all clear to resume regular exercise with mild-moderate weights. She said as long as my incisions are fully healed, I can resume normal exercise. Good Luck.

I was lightly jogging on a treadmill three or so days after surgery. My surgical team told me that when I was ready, I was ready. My suggestion is to start with something simple like jogging in place. If that hurts, you're not ready. If that feels good, try some treadmill work. Then build up to distance runs indoors or outdoors, whichever you prefer. Good luck!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
