Hi all, I had my procedure yesterday and went home today. I am very uncomfortable, burning in stomach as Fluid passes. I can feel the burning into my back. Has anyone experienced this?

Thanks

Sounds like it's the gas pain. It will get better.

Doing good - was able to sleep on my side for a little - starting full liquids in a few minutes - see how that goes. pain is low, a little gas pain, but manageable. So far I could not be more thrilled at how this is going.

I was sleeved on 5/2 and went home on 5/4 . I am also amazed at how little pain there was! It was like other posters have said-it feels like you did too many sit ups. I had a roommate who was sleeved too and we both agreed that the worst part was progressing from Water to crystal light. The crystal light kinda woke our stomaches up and made us burpy but then the Protein Shakes went down fine.

You are very lucky! It has been very painful for me. I was sleeved 5/1 & I had made plans for next week thinking I would be fine. I'm now rescheduling because I'm still not up to being out of the house. Pain is now manageable, which I am grateful for.

I was sleeved 5/1 also. I have had a lot of pain up until today. I of course had a lot of shuffling around right after surgery. I ended up in ICU because I could not maintain consciousness and my blood pressure and heart rate were very low.
I went home the next day in the evening. This morning I felt horrible and weak and I knew it was probably dehydration since I struggle to meet my fluid goals and have had diarrhea since wednesday. I'm feeling better now. A couple doses of pepto and some Powerade zero and yogurt have helped a lot.

I've done good so far with just Ibuprofen today. Haven't taken my Oxycodone since last night. I'm not able to lay flat yet or sleep in my bed propped up. I've been sleeping on the couch recliner. It's easier to stand up and causes less discomfort. The main pain I feel is from the incision they pulled my stomach from.
I was worried a little about restriction because I don't actually get a full feeling yet but a friend explained that I probably wouldn't on liquids but as soon as I start the soft phase in a couple weeks I will.

Hi! I was sleeved on 5/1 also. As of today I have not taken my nausea meds been up walking more but my stomach itches alot even though I've been wearing the compression band they gave me at the hospital. My incisions seem to be healing but my stomach is protruding to the point I look pregnant. I have alot of gas but no #2s [emoji54]. My goal was to go back to work next Wednesday...definitely not happening now.

I was wondering about ordering a compression band. I'm actually surprised they sell them in bigger sizes.

Those who posted above, thanks for sharing your stories. I hope it gets easier for all of us very soon!

Surgery 05/02, last one of the day. Horrible feeling once I woke up and took a medication that I did not tolerate well and puked, very painful.

Checked out on the 3rd and felt a lot of gas pain in the abdomen. Tough sleeping for at least 2 additional nigh to. Actually had a weird dream that I was starving and could not eat anything cause of the surgery. Very weird feeling that I assume is part if my addiction to eating.

Day 4 post Op I felt great in the AM however I think I overdid it on the exercise and drinking as I felt very ill and fatigued in the afternoon in to the night. Going to take it a little easier tomorrow.

One concern I did have is that I was 380 in Hospital and day 4 postoperative weighing in at 363. 17 pounds seems a little excessive but likely a result of the Water weight loss.

Hi, I was sleeved 5/1 and experienced extreme pain the first day was told that I also had a hernia fixed, which might be cause of the pain. I went home on the 3rd and have had trouble sleeping until tonight 5/6 I finally read post I could sleep on my stomach and that has been wonderful. I am able to walk and stand but not well enough to go back to work. The pain is very manageable, I'm only sore.

Same here. It drives me insane sometimes the amount of itching I have. And the same thing with the incisions. They seem to be healing pretty well. The 2 biggest ones bother me the most. The largest one has the most pain around it and protrudes the furthest. Can't wait for that swelling to go down.
I had to do Mira lax for 2 days to have a BM. then ended up with diarrhea for 2 days after. Now I'm back to issues having a BM.
Hope you continue doing well!

The abdominal binder is a life saver. I just asked for one at the hospital and they gave it to me and helped me put it on. I learned about them after my c-section so I knew to ask. For me it helps the "my insides are falling out" feeling. It makes it much easier to get up and move around as well.

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL
