Drain tube post sleeve

Recommended Posts

My left side is what hurts. I know that is where my stomach was so it makes sense. I visited with my nurse about wearing a belly band or spankx to help hold it in tight. She said as long as it wasn't to tight to go ahead.

Are any of you tracking your steps?

What up with that. I have an indentation where my biggest incision is and that's the one that hurts too! I had my sleeve same day as you.

From what I understand, this incision is where they pulled the stomach through.

I had a drain for ten days. It seemed like everything hurt during that time. The drain site/ hole was tender and hurt some, especially when it would kind of slip out an inch or so (mine was stitched onto my skin a little bit - I guess to keep it in place). I don't think you need to worry about pain there unless it's really hot and inflamed. Also, it's important to monitor what's coming out of it into the bulb. I got concerned when the liquid became cloudy with some sort of white stringy stuff. I called the surgeon's office and was told that it was fine because I didn't have a fever (sign of infection). Are you taking all of your pain meds?

So should I expect after drain tube is removed the pain should subside

The drain tube is stitched in place and it is probably pulling on the site. It should get better once removed.

I had my surgery 4/3. I think I needed a drain tube. Week 2 I had a burning pain every time I bent over. One morning I woke up with dried and fresh blood coming from the biggest incision. Went to the emergency. Turns out I had a seroma. Which is a Fluid filled pouch behind my incision. I was told it would drain on its own. I ended up pressing around the area after showers when my incision was soft. The fluid came out that way. I had pain for at least a week or so. Perhaps if I had a drain tube it would've gone faster. Hope you're feeling better now.

Why is there a drain for the sleeve? I thought it was only used for plastic surgery type operations.

I was sleeved on 2/6/17 and had my drain tube for 8 days post op. It was far and away the worst part of the entire procedure for me. Every movement hurt when it was in. As soon as my surgeon pulled that sucker out I felt like a different person. Just tough it out a couple more days and then you'll feel like a million bucks. Good luck!

I only had a drain for 36 hours, but it did not hurt at all. The drain removal was THE weirdest/creepiest thing I have ever felt in my life.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
