Recommended Posts

How many calories should we be consuming 3 months post op ? My surgeon was very vague about it but I recall something about 800 calories a day. Can you all share your daily caloric Intake & subsequent weight loss please. Thank You.

The faster you can get to 1000 calories the better. 800-1000 is good at 3 months, at least to get enough Protein in.

My Nut taught us about mindful eating, which is about paying attention to your body, only eating when you're hungry, and stopping when your full, but I will continue to watch my calories and carbs to ensure not go overboard. My surgery isn't until this Wednesday, but my goal is to try to stay around 500-800 calories increasing to no more than a thousand and to take in no more than 45 carbs daily. From what I've read on other posts that is the average caloric and carb intake for everyone that sees the best results, so I'm praying that it's right for me as well.

At 3 months post-op, I was taking in 900-1000 calories per day. For reference, at a little over 5 months post-op, I take in around 1100 calories per day. Also take into account that I'm a 41yo male, 6'0" 220.

When I was at 3 months post op, my nutritionist said I should be at around 800 calories a day.

I am now at 4 months and get in close to 800 calories a day along with around 40 grams carbs or less and 100 grams of Protein a day.

I have really found that since I lowered my carbs from the suggested 50 carbs a day (by my NUT), and the fact that I've upped my protein every day from 70 to 100 grams a day now, that the weight is dropping more quickly.

I have tracked calories, carbs and protein since the very beginning using myfitnesspal. It has been a great tool. For me, tracking everything really helps me a lot.

@OutsideMatchInsideThank you, I will go for it! I found out very quickly that 50 carbs a day was not helping me at all, even though my nutritionist told me to get that much a day.

I at a week shy of 3 months and I'm getting between 800-1000 calories a day. I get 90-100 grams of Protein and that's about all I track. I try and keep my carbs below 50 but I'm rigid with it and my nut suggested to not even count them right now.

Sullie06 wow how are you able to consume that much Protein ? Wow. OK so would you mind sharing a couple of sample meal ideas with me.... I am struggling with meal ideas and what to put on my plate and cannot eat that much chicken or turkey in a day to get my protein needs met. I'm really concerned that my protein intake is low.

I'm still supplementing so 40 grams comes from my Protein Drinks, I use the Lift Protein by Atkins and it's not bad. I drink 2 a day at 20g of protein.

For Breakfast I typically eat greek yogurt. I do the Triple Zero so that give 15 grams of protein.

For lunch I usually bring left overs from the night before or do lunch meat and cheese combo for about 15 grams.

dinner typically is some sort of lean meat and veggies. Examples of what I eat are baked or grilled balsamic chicken, Lemon grilled chicken, roasted turkey breast, homemade tuna salad with no bread, homemade burgers with no bun, chili (either ground beef or ground turkey) or meatloaf. Sometimes we do "tacos" with no shell or with a carb balance tortilla. I do a lot of low fat cheese in my meals so that boosts the protein count.

My veggies I tend to stick to green veggies like broccoli, brussel sprouts and grilled squash and onions.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
