Anyone tried stomach taping or bandaging?

First let me congratulate you on your wedding and finding the dress. Second I agree with compression and taping Wow Texas is hot even in April. Third I do believe there's beauty advice specific to the weight-loss community. No concern I'm going to more than one place for advice and ideas. There are some very specific psychological aspects to the post weight loss patient. No worries about transitioning to look in the other places for beauty advice no harm in asking here. Do what works for you. Best to you.

Congrats! You look beautiful in that dress!

What about a Spanx skirt? I also like the idea of some sort of lining being added to the dress. Good luck and be sure to post a photo with your solution!

Adhesive tape works on sweaty patients to hold tubes in. It is rough stuff hard to get off so use tape remover and use tincture of benzoin or skin prep before you put it on. Before you put it on make sure it is clean and dry and wait til the surface feels tacky before you put the tape on. You probably can get this white tape several inches wide. Medical supplies and veterans hospital have it.
You might check with bridal consultants. People have done this before,so ask and ask again.

I read about a professional body builder who had lost a significant amount of weight. When she does the bikini walk she looks amazing. Turns out she pulls the extra skin up, puts double sided tape on it, then folds it like the flap to an envelope.

She's very very low body fat, so Idk if this would work in the real world, but I thought I'd pass it along. Maybe something like that could give you a smoother appearance and more confidence. But I still think you look great.

There's also a compression tape called KT tape that physical therapists use, and it comes in a variety of colors. I've bought it at CVS and Walmart in the past. Best part of KT tape is that it's an adhesive elastic tape that is breathable.

I think the only thing people will notice are your amazing boobs LOL. Mine totally went South after WLS. You look stunning, I would recommend finding a good seamstress and have something custom made out of compression material. Good luck on your new life. :780_sparkling_heart:

Try vet wrap. You can find it in a horse tack store. You can get white or off white and it will come off easily. I forgot a sports bra at a horse show once and didn’t want to have my boobs flopping all over the ring. The vet wrap worked wonders. It looks great on you. Congrats on the weight loss and your wedding!

Wow! That dress is gorgeous and you look stunning! This may sound like a stupid question but did you ask the bridal store? I had a similar shaped dress that also had a low back as my reception dress and the bridal salon's alterations department had a low back corset top sewn into the top of my dress and they gave me full length shape wear pencil skirt for the bottom to get everything smoothed and sucked in. I ended up buying it (a new one), but they provided it in the store to use when I was trying dresses on.

I wouldnt sweat it. No one will notice your skin. Dont stress over trivial BS, youre healthier and will live a more active life, dot let some skin drag you down.

I agree she looks beautiful to me

GaCaldwell has a good idea with get a tailored compression/shapewear garment.

The issue is, if you really have a lot of loose skin, you already know that moving it one place will make it stick out and move some where else. Like when I wear Shapewear I have to go for basically my whole torso, even there are only a few places that need smoothing, because just smoothing one area will cause bulges in other areas.
So even if you can get some kind of low shape wear to work, I would still tape down my sides and have that tape tucked into the shapewear. That way you can have a perfectly smooth back.
If you are going to have a professional photographer, they can fix some things for you, but you can't control the pictures other people take. You have to also consider that an HD camera is going to pick up more details than a phone camera.

Try a few different things and practice. If you have a good friend that can help you with taping, all the better.
Were is it that normal weight people hang out. I have like 30 lbs to go till I can fit in somewhere like that but id like to know were to go !

I feel the need to point out to the people who have been posting in this thread recently that it is over a year old, 2017 not 2018. The OP was already married way back in April of 2017. So, though it is very nice that you are still offering her advice on her wedding dress, I'm sure she doesn't need it now. :D

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣
