Can i return to driving a truck after surgery and if so how soon?

Double check with your surgeon... I had to wait 1 week to drive (and only when not on the strong meds that cause drowsiness) and am going back to work after 3 weeks rest.

Im just wondering if i can return to the job i love after weightloss surgery and hiw long i should wait after surgery if i can

I'm a truck driver and I returned back to full time truck driving 2 weeks after surgery.

No problems at all. Jumping on and off the back of the truck etc.. prob not a good idea but I had to do what I had to do lol.

A concern is the increased chances of blood clots after surgery, combined with restricted movement during long hours on the road. But, this isn't just a short term increased risk.. it will be for about 6 months.

Talk to your doctor about this, and you might be put on blood thinners for the risky time. Compression legwear is a possibility too.

Good luck!

After surgery I took no pain medicine after I left the operating room. In part this was because I wanted to be able to drive sooner than later. But because I walked everyday for 30 minutes prior to surgery for the year before, I really didn't have any pain. The surgeon will not give you clearance to drive if you are on narcotic pain meds.

If you are doing long haul trucking, it is probably best to stop often and walk for a few minutes every now and then to prevent blood clot formation and use compression leg wear as @@Berry78 has said.

I took 4 weeks off after my sleeve. I work the dock in the morning and then drive a city route in a semi. I just wanted to make sure I was full healed because of the strain of the dock work and constantly opening the trailer door. I had no problems at all when I went back to work.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
