The difference a year makes...

Congratulations. I am sure this holiday season was much more enjoyable. Great job.

Funny you say that because last Christmas was my breaking point and I went to my first bariatric seminar 2 weeks later. I was sweating, out of breath trying to cook. I over-ate and was miserable. I would sit on the couch and I'd have to rock back and forth to get back up. It was an aweful night and I knew I needed to do something.

@@cdeisroth you have the gastric bypass? For how long?

Your results are amazing!

Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Thank you! Yes I had gastric bypass in March 2016 so just about 9.5 months ago. My stats are below:

Starting weight 1/2016 - 261lbs

Surgery weight 3/2016 - 239lbs

Current weight 1/2017 - 139lbs

Goal weight - 136lbs

It did come off very fast for me initially but slowed down a lot these last 3-4 months

@cderisroth and after you'll remove it. You must go on eating just a bit for don't make you stomach larger right?

Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Well there is nothing to remove because with the bypass they reduce your stomach by 80-90% and that is permanent.

I would say I ate between 500-700 calories a day for the first 6 months. Currently I'm eating around 1200 calories a day. I don't worry about my stomach stretching because I don't eat too much food at any one time, probably no more than 1 cup or 3-4 ounces of Protein. I've had to really retrain my brain to understand what "satisfied" is rather than full. Before surgery I would stuff myself to the point of being uncomfortable. Now I eat until satisfied then stop. It took a while to learn that!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
