I read something a few days ago that might help. It helped me... "My weight loss was slower than many of those I knew, and that worried me. But what I found is that everyone loses at his own pace, and the rate of loss is not always a gauge of how much weight a patient ultimately loses."

I read this in "Weight Loss Surgery for Dummies". I was sleeved 12/14 and I'm noticing that while there are some things many of us share in common, everyone's experience is unique. From tolerating liquids to nausea to weight loss, we're all different. I'm down 15 since the surgery and I think WE'RE BOTH DOING AWESOME . Stay encouraged!!

Hi all, I was sleeved on 12/13 and have lost about 12 pounds so far. I feel like everyone around me, on this board, on my Facebook group, has been losing way faster than I am.. I just am scared I am going to be that person who only loses like 40 pounds despite doing everything right.. Any words of advice to calm my nerves and stop worrying about the weight loss timeline? Thank you..

I was sleeved the same day, and i'm only down 10. I know I wasn't as high a BMI as some, but I don't let the relatively slower weight loss get to me down. I just keep on doing what I need to do.

I had mine on 8/4 and I've only lost 52 pounds. I lost the first 21 pounds in 2 weeks (I think it was Water weight). Now I'm losing like a pound every 2 weeks. I'm hoping that it's a slight stall. Everyone is different. Don't let it discourage you.

Don't get frustrated. Remember that slow lost is better than fast for many reasons. For starters, you will sag less. The saggy skin comes when you loose too much weight and the body doesn't have enough Protein so it goes for the muscles. Secondly, your hair will fall out less which also comes from rapid weight loss. Don't worry, you have the tool so that you can't eat the way you used to. One day, you won't recognize the person in the mirror.

Stay motivated - don't loose the faith - you'll be fine. :)

I was Sleeved 12/14. I gained a bit after surgery, I think I am down at least 11 pounds (not back home from holiday yet to know), to me that is not enough in 18 days. :(

Course..I did eat candy on Xmass eve..

Struggling with WHAT is hunger. Maybe I could be eating even less as I am not hungry. IDK.

I think I need to do the same. When I weigh in the morning, it looks like I lost about 8 pounds so far and by night I am within 3 pounds of my surgery date. It is really weird as the morning weight keeps dropping (yesterday showed almost 10 pounds off since surgery) but then by night was within 3 pounds of surgery date. So depressing. I was sleeved on 12/19. I think I need to only weight once or twice a week for a while.

If you are drinking all your Water, that can change your weight during the day and cause that fluctuations. Stick with your first morning weight.

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
