I don't have the liquid diet thank goodness. Just low carb. It's hard with the Christmas treats but we can do it. Good luck

I was surprised to find out yesterday that the University of Chicago doesn't make their bariatric patients follow a liquid diet either. They said they want their patients to get used to the diet they're going to follow after the surgery and that's not a liquid one. Just after the surgery it's soft foods, but yeah, that pleasantly surprised me.

Honestly, I think this is the best time of year to just have had surgery, we are restricted as hell and so we don't binge and gain a bunch of weight. We'll be losing fat and be ready for the summer. Also, if we can get through this, we can get through anything!

I had surgery in the summer so by the holidays I would be semi healed. I changed my attitude about food and my tastes so I didn't binge or anything last year and I am even less interested this year.

I would never have surgery this time of year. If for no other reason it's too close to the end of the year and taking the change on have to start over on deductibles etc if something goes wrong and surgery is delayed.

Plus your freezing at surgery, being colder in the winter, no thanks.

@@Finding_Stacy yeah a lot of place don't do the liquid diet, for the most part it is useless and all it does is weaken people before surgery by starving them.

Nothing that comes in a can is really that good anyway. Seriously. It's habit. You will be able to eat anything you want again next holiday season, but you will eat it in teeny portions and while wearing a MUCH smaller size. Focus on how awesome it will feel to fit into booths, wear single digit sized pants, shop anywhere you want...

It's ALL worth it.

I don't think my skeleton could get into single digit sized pants. :P But I agree with the sentiment. My eating habits have changed tremendously, and all for the better. Stuff I used to really enjoy is now "eh" at best.

Agree with others saying you may find once you're able to have that, you realize you really don't want it anymore. Was out doing some errands (tis the season!) running around yesterday, didn't feel like cooking. My teenage son with me asked if we could bring home Arby's, so we did. I only ate the beef from a beef and cheddar sandwich, skipped the bun. I didn't order fries for myself, I never do anymore. Now before surgery, I loved Arby's curly fries. I took ONE of my son's....and realized it tasted gross to me....like I had let lard melt in my mouth, yuck. So you may surprise yourself with what you really crave after surgery.

attachicon.gif 20161222_142549.jpg 8 days into liquid diet. Just wondering why on earth would we choose this time of year. The challenges were faced with. But I'm still sticking to my liquid diet.

I totally understand what you're saying as I was thinking the exact same thing today at the mall and I saw possibly the world's biggest display of huge Christmas tin cans filled with delicious popcorn and holiday Cookies.

I thought I might cry, wanting those Snacks so very badly, but I'm one week post op and it will be a long time before I get to enjoy those tasty treats.

Oh well there's always next year!

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to everyone.

Don't look back, turn the page, and let your next chapter begin!

That is truly the perfect response!

Thank you for that.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
