I start mine on Tuesday...

Today is the last of my 10 day liquid diet. My surgery is tomorrow. :)

Just wanted to say to those going into the pre op phase that it DOES get easier once you get past the first few days. I started mine the Friday after Thanksgiving (guess if you're going to have a last meal, turkey day is the day to do it!) and it was really hard through the weekend. I was starving, cranky, and had a ton of cravings, plus I had to work 10 hour shifts and everyone in my office eats constantly. Then came a day around the 72 hour mark where I started having the ketosis headaches, fatigue etc, but I just drank a ton of Water to try to flush the junk of out of my system and it passed pretty quickly. Once I got over that hurdle, the past 6 or so days have flew by. Knowing that I'm risking an open procedure if my liver is not in tip-top shape definitely kept me from cheating.

I guess since I'm not on the carb roller coaster any more, I'm not having much cravings and am not thinking about food all the time. My hubby and son can even eat around me without me wanting to kill them. Surprisingly if anything, I'm craving protein/meat. The biggest thing I've realized over the past 10+ days is how much I was eating out of boredom and/or stress. I've noticed that the times I do think about food is when I'm either bored or worrying about something. I think the liquid diet not only prepares you physically for the surgery but starts the process mentally as well.

Good luck to all!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
