It has been ingrained into our heads since surgery not to eat and drink at the same time and to wait 30 minutes after eating to drink - well.... Soup? ?? To eat soup is to eat AND drink at the same time.

So, do you guys stay away from soup in general or do you just drink the broth first and then eat the "chunks" (if applicable) ;)

Just the broth for the first 2 weeks, liquid diet, no chunks or Pasta. I found the bullion cubes disgusting. I got Lipton noodle Soup, made the packet as normal and strained out the noodles. It isn't going to take much to fill you up. Sip it until you find the amount that works best for you.

I'm 10 weeks post surgery and down 40+ lbs. As far as no drinking during meals, is very tough. I sip a Fluid as needed. But the liquid will fill u quicker, so sip small amounts.

I'm 12 weeks post op and have Soup every once in a while. Only a quarter cup or so. Much more than that and I find it uncomfortable.

I am 3.5 years out and I posed the same question to my surgeon when I was cleared for all foods. He just looked at me like I was an idiot. :)

I drink the broth and then eat the stuff to this day. My restriction is very tight to this day so if I drink right after I eat, I yarf.

I love soup, but once I start the eating part, it's over for the broth.

My program states no Soup once you are on solids. The nutritionist said it's because the liquid in soup does empty faster and it's hard to meet your Protein goal. She said if you do have soup it should be thick full of protein and veggies, mor like a stew with a minimum of broth.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
