Hello Mili!

My doc recommended the RNY over Sleeve due to my type II diabetes. She said there is only a 70% chance of remission of diabetes with the sleeve vs. a 100% remission rate with the RNY. PLUS – no more acid reflux with RNY.

I, too, had my heart set on the sleeve until I had this conversation. Diabetes was gone by the time I got home from the hospital. Now my A1C is at 5.0!!

Hello, I've also gotten a revision from sleeve to bypass. How much weight loss is expected when doing a revision?

Hi

I've had my gastric sleeve revision to rny gastric bypass four days ago. I'm home since yesterday but it wasn't and still isn't easy. It feels as though I've been punched with 5 umbrellas and I have slight diarrhea but no more GERD and I'm hoping it begins to get better from now on. Happy to find similar people for support. Strangely enough I've been asked to take Clear liquids on my first week, then full liquids like milk and yogurt then purred on then third week but I wasn't told I should take in Protein. Any feedback is appreciated thanks!

I know when I had the sleeve done the first week they just wanted me to focus on getting liquids in. Then after my follow up appt they had me start on Protein drinks. I was allowed to have them that first week, but it wasn't something I needed to focus on.

I am only 5 months out from gastric sleeve. I go on Tuesday for revision to gastric bypass. I'm very nervous. I had surgery in the summer so I didn't have to miss work (I'm a teacher). Unfortunately, with an hourglass stricture and a pouch above it holding my food, I am throwing up undigested food. I'm freaking out about the recovery. I only plan to take a week off of work because I'm still a newer teacher without a lot of leave. The note my doctor gave me to bring in states 2-6 weeks. Ugh! I had no pain after sleeve. They said it should be a similar recovery. It wasn't for you guys? We need our own forum for sleeve to bypass!!!

I am literall going through the exact same thing.. with the hourglass pouch/stricture.. I'm worried sick. My GI dr referred me to a general surgeon.. thoughts?

I have the same situation. I was sleeved Nov 2014 and I now have really bad acid reflux and heartburn all the time. Not sure how to go about seeing if I qualify through my insurance for a revision. I went through True Results and they aren't even open for business anymore. Really frustrating!!!

I also went through TrueResults but luckily I was able to continue with the same surgeon who did my original weight loss surgery. I was banded in 2009, then converted to sleeve in 2016, I’ve been suffering with GERD for the past several months. The next option would be gastric bypass. I’m a little hesitant but with the pain from the GERD I’m seriously considering the surgery. The pain gets so bad that I literally lay in bed in crying from the pain. The meds are no longer helping me and I was told that I have bile reflux that’s causing the pain. [emoji15]

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
