Hello all, I am 2 days post-op from a bypass and I just got home from the hospital today. Has anyone else had a revision from sleeve to bypass?

Yes, I had my revision on Monday Nov 14th. This isn't as easy as the Sleeve and my incisions are bothering me more this time. I had a rough start in the hospital due to some complications but i think I'm getting much better. I'm supposd to go to work on Tuesday but don't think I am quite up to it yet. Thanksgiving was difficult.... I felt so left out, and hungry but I guess its worth it. I had the surgery to cure my severe GERD and it seems to have helped. Hope everyone else is doing well. Let me know when we get our own page.

What was the deciding factor on making a choice to have a revision for you all?

My upper g.i. shows my sleeve being twisted and when I swallow Fluid it comes right back up. Knowing that this can be cancerous once it travels all the way up my esophagus is enough for me. And the physical pain from my gerd is so horrible. !

Gosh I would say so! I was sleeved in February today they ordered an upper G.I. to help plan the next step of treatment for for my GERD.

I have the same situation. I was sleeved Nov 2014 and I now have really bad acid reflux and heartburn all the time. Not sure how to go about seeing if I qualify through my insurance for a revision. I went through True Results and they aren't even open for business anymore. Really frustrating!!!

I was sleeved in February of 2014 and had my revision to RNY on Nov 14th, 2016, My GERD was so severe that even water gave me heartburn. Acid was always coming up into my esophaugus causing me to choke and cough. I had to carry a bronchial dialater with me everywhere. I had taken so much medication and it was no longer working for me. My surgeon was afraid I was developing ulcers and the possibility of cancer was increasing. She talked me into having the RNY. I had a few problems with it and ended up staying in the hospital for a week. I've been home for a week and a half and still having complications. Definitely not as easy as the sleeve was. The good thing is....not one it of reflux or heartburn and I no longer wake up at night choking. I had no problem getting the insurance to approve the revision since it was for health issues. My surgeon's office handled everything and the approval went through in a week. Good luck.
