I am not sharing. My husband knows, but no one else will know. I am a VERY private person, so it isn't something I'd share with people. I do have a instagram account for it, where I follow others that have had the surgery or are about to. Between that, here and my husband, I have the support and resources that I need.

I am in the beginning stages as well and my husband obviously knows, my parents know, and one of my best friends that doesn't know anyone else in my circle knows. My husband is 100% supportive and he was the person I was most nervous discussing this with since health wise i have gone through some craziness over the last few years, but he is on board. My parents acted supportive at first until my mom had a moment and freaked out but mostly because she's worried as moms usually are. She did however say she thinks I will regret this decision, but she also isn't well informed either. Now my BFF was the surprising one, she is always super supportive and right there with me, however not this time. She has attempted to talk me out of it and since she is a Pilates trainer I got the sanctimonious work out talk from the person who has never been fat a day in her life or struggled with the weight gain from medical issues. I don't plan on telling anyone else unless directly asked since it's none of their business and since my surgery won't be until roughly end of February if I want to use the new resolution excuse I can. I'm sure I have others that will be supportive but I want to do this for me and not them so I don't feel necessary to include a bunch of people in the decision. Having so many cooks in the kitchen is never a good thing. Good luck in finding what's right for you, I hope you can have the support you need!

I know I mentioned I am public with it, but if you stay private or go public, there is nothing wrong with either method.

It is whatever someone is comfortable with.

Yes and No... I have a separate Instagram with my Pre Op plans I just started it today, but I haven't told all my close friends and family only a few know. Once I have it done if they ask I'll be honest about it.

My husband and sister knew from the beginning. After surgery was scheduled, I told my son and mom. Since then I've shared only with people I know aren't going to judge me. If I get skied about how I'm losing weight, I'll tell the truth but I'm not advertising. The exception are my clients. I need to tell them I'm having surgery but I'm not specifying. In fact I need to come up with a fake surgery!

I shared with my family and just a few close friends who I felt compelled to share with. Otherwise, my story has always been that I changed my lifestyle, cut carbs, increased Protein & Water, and started running. None of those things are untrue. :-)

I have children who are adults and they are supportive as they have seen my on a diet most of their lives and have said that they think its a good thing as I cannot keep my weight off. My partner is supporting me but has said that they would prefer if i did not have surgery as they are scared that something will happen to me. I understand this but have talked to them and explained that I need to do this for me!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
