Spicing up broth.

Recommended Posts

I'm 6 days post op and was wondering if I can put pepper in my broth, or will it harm my new stomach? If it's not a big deal, what did you do to make broth more appealing?

I did. I wasn't given any information about adding spices. Spicy food doesn't give me heartburn, so i jazzed up broth with cayenne pepper and ground pepper.

I had surgery in Mexico, and the hotel broth was painfully bland. We bought some spicy ramen cups and just strained the noodles out to enjoy.

I'm 3 weeks out now and it didn't cause any issues. I would suggest calling your surgeon if you're feeling unsure, as my experience is just my own.

I was pouring in the cayenne pepper by then for sure. Up to your tolerance.

I wouldn't suggest coarsely ground pepper. You don't want anything lodged in your staple line. I don't see why fine pepper would be an issue, though. Hot sauce? Sure! Just be mindful of acidity.

I kept the crushed and powdered spices out of my broth for the first few weeks just to be on the safe side, but I DID use a bottle of Sriracha. I found that Wegman's had a number of great boxed broths and Soups that fit into the restrictions of the post-op diet and LOVED the spicy Thai broth. I lived off of that stuff!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
