Please help...surgery in the morning. Need advise.

Recommended Posts

Friend's I need advise I am scheduled tomorrow morning for surgery VSG and ever since I started all clear diet yesterday morning I have had major bathroom problems. This morning it seems to be just achy stomach from yesterday and gasy. I did try a isotech 42 (Vitamin shoppe Protein drink) yesterday and it kept upsetting my stomach so I stopped that. Is this normal???? Please advise I'm nervous now that everything is a go and my husband is off for the week I will have to cancel.

Just stick with Clear liquids today. Surgery won't be cancelled if you have diarrhea or even Constipation. I would only drink Clear Liquids though.

I am 5 days post op. My liquids for 24 hours prior to surgery was light apple juice, low sodium fat free chicken broth, sugar free Jello and sugar free popsicles.

The more Protein you have the more gas you will most likely have. I would stick to the clear diet above if it meets with your surgeons requirements.

After surgery I resumed the same diet on day three after surgery and will start full liquid tomorrow. I had failed my leak test so was delayed to start liquid otherwise I would have started the day after surgery.

Just do exactly wha your surgeon tells you and good luck.

A leak test for me was the morning after surgery. Had to drink some awful tasting liquid while they take live xrays. It is to make sure the liquid yoh drank passes thru your stomach without any coming into your adominal cavity. Some surgeons do it while you are still on operating table.

It's a test they give you also called a swallow test where they check to make sure your stomach doesn't leak before you can eat liquids.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
