Nope. 20 fits perfectly.

Were you a tight 20?

I had bought a bunch of winter coats that at the time would not fit me which I dreamt of fitting in to one day. 4 months later, they are hanging on me and my body is lost in it. I clearly have more to lose but now I have all this brand new expensive stuff that I am either going to have to give away or put away for when and if I get pregnant someday.

Don't buy cloths until you lose weight unless it's absolutely necessary. You are going to need that money to replace the wardrobe you will be replacing in a couple of months.

It is hard to answer because everyone is different, clothes fit differently depending on your build, and it depends on you start size.

I have always like my clothes fitted, so I started swapping clothes out soon and often. I will not wear something that is too large.

My suggestion is to only shop when you need a size, and plan on wearing it immediately. Do not shop for the future. You can skip sizes or move through a size very quickly.

Just shop on demand.

I totally agree! I've always worn my clothes fitted as well. Only buy when you NEED something. The clothes I've bought so far, I've already outgrown (surgery was 7/1/16). Buy when you need it and wear it immediately.

In anticipation for surgery I bought lots tops when Dillards and Macy's were having their 75% off in various sizes (1X, XL, L, and Med). I did this over several months. Once I had the surgery all I would need to buy were a couple pair of slacks and maybe a pair of jeans as I lost. That strategy has saved a lot of money. I have also found that leggings can be worn throughout many sizes with an oversized shirt.

Three weeks post-op, I was into clothes that I hadn't worn in over five years. I'm currently on my second new hole on my belt. I'm about to phase out some t-shirts because they just look way too baggy now. I lost a bunch on my pre-op diet, and I'm sure I've lost a lot post-op (don't know for sure because I don't weigh, unless I'm at the doctor's office).

Ditto to really everything shared. Best to wait you might lose more in some areas than others. Higher sizes in some items can take sometimes longer to move through.

I would definitely wait. I am amazed at how much I have gotten rid of because like others I did not want to be swimming in some of my clothes (some big is ok). I have some items I could not wear and I have already grown out/down from. Others fit better, others fit more comfortably but looked too big. I have only bought a couple of items at smaller size that were really on sale.

For coat, would wait as long as you can. One suggestion I got from someone on these boards for pants are amazing buttons that you can easily add to make pants that button tighter. They are incredibly strong and allowed me to take some inches off jeans. I will post they were only $5 on Amazon.

Also another reason to buy on demand as you need it instead of buying ahead is your body might be different.

I was always busty when I was smaller, but I was also a teen then. As a grown woman, I am really busty with a small waist and hips.

My shape is totally different that it was when I was overweight. I went from an apple to extreme hourglass. So the kinds of clothes I have to buy are totally different. Like before I would have never purchased high waist jeans but that is all I wear now. All my tops have to be fitted because my breasts and big and if my tops aren't fitted they look like tents draping off my breasts.

And I wear tons of dresses and skirts because they last the longest and are the most forgiving. Leggings and any tight pants are the first things to show weight loss and look sloppy.

I'm going to invest in leggings I think. I have some yoga pants and wear leggings now anyway. The weight I really have to lose is in my hips and thighs. My arms and tummy need it, but there is less to lose. I fully expect to remain a pear when I'm done. I'm hoping for a thinner pear! Totally okay with my curves! Thanks.

I am really trying to resist some awesome sales right now. I have my cart full and came here to see what other people do.

My surgery date is December 6th and I was thinking of getting some pants now while there is a VERY good sale going on.

AHHHH

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
