How do you get out of a stall?

Recommended Posts

I had surgery on Aug. 23,2016, and have lost 23lbs. I am discouraged, because I thought I would have lost quite a bit more. I am thankful for what I have lost, but this stall has lasted 3 weeks. Any suggestions??

I'm in the same boat. Sleeved on 9/8 and have only lost 25 lbs. I thought that by now, I would have lost more. I've been on a stall of almost two weeks. I've increased my calories, reduced my carbs and trying to walk more.

I'm having the same problem! Any suggestions would really be appreciated. One note: After surgery I kept throwing up, this went on for 3 months. He finally did an Endoscopy & loosened the pouch. No more throwing up, but weight loss dropped off. Do you think I need to get it tightened up?

More exercise, more Water, fewer calories. The first eighteen months is when it is easy to lose a lot of weight. This gets a lot harder.

Weigh your food and track every bite in My Fitness Pal. Get your calories lower. Weight yourself everyday. Eat only meat. eggs, cheese and a few non-starchy vegetables.

Do not eat anything made with flour or sugar. No bread, Cereal, rice, Pasta, noodles, potatoes, peas or corn. No cake, pies, Cookies, candy or ice cream. Do this and the weight will fall off. Don't listen and your surgery WILL fail.

How are you doing at getting in all of your Protein and fluids?

What are you eating?

Are you exercising?

Are you following your program?

Without more information it is really hard to know if you are experiencing a normal stall or what.

I agree with inner surfer girl...need to make sure your following your program. With that said, what I have read and what has worked for me is your body will have stalls every 4-5 weeks. Your losing alot of weight quickly and your body plays catch up. What has worked for me through these stalls was to increase fluids and Protein. BUT everyone is different. Good luck. :)

I had my RNY on August 30, 2016 and I've lost 37 lbs since surgery and I was in a stall for 5 weeks. I adjusted my diet by drinking Protein shakes for a Meal Replacement, exercising and getting all my fluids. I really restrict myself on carbs and now my weight loss has started again!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
