Recommended Posts

Today makes one week since my surgery I'm not set to see the doctor till tomorrow but I cannot deal with Clear liquids any longer anyone else going through this? I would really like to try some yogurt I've watched him videos on YouTube of people it seems that they are all from the UK and they said they were given yogurt in the hospital so I'm thinking yogurt maybe OK to try and I do have some in the fridgeis anyone else eating yogurt after one week

No, I followed my bariatric team's instructions for me. Not interested in what some people I've never met thousands of miles away from me are doing on YouTube.

Hey I'm from the UK and I had yogurt in my 2nd week it's a slider food so will go down nicely. I'm coming up to 3 weeks post surgery and I'm on soft food I must admit I skipped onto soft food few days earlier I shouldn't have but I did I got soo bored of liquids. The American plan seems so much stricter than ours.

1 - 2 ounces of plain Greek yoghurt is included in my 2 weeks post-op "full liquid" diet. Even with this in my plan I'm so over the liquid stage so I understand what you are feeling.

I would say always follow your surgeons advice - especially if you only have one day before you check in.

I'm actually in the USA every surgeons plan is completely different. There are 4 surgeons who work out if the center I go to & they all have slightly different ideas on nutrition!

This is a great time to learn to be able to do things that we think we can't take. You have made a huge decision to change your lifestyle and your postop diet is part of it. At least call your surgeons office and ask if you can add yogurt. You really don't need strangers approval to do what you want to do.

I know for me, it was important to be able to meet my Protein and liquid goals and follow my plan. I found each stage to get tiresome because I wanted what was coming next. It is a very small sacrifice in the big scheme. And that first scrambled egg was the best ever! You will get there.

Omg you are sooo dramatic that's what I hate about this site alot of the Americans act like your gonna die if you eat something. She hasn't asked for a McDonald's or KFC or pizza hut it's a yogurt for gods sake. I'm not telling her to eat anything I told her of my experience and what I did. I did eat a yogurt before I was suppose to both happened my nurse said it's a slider food so nothing with happen or get stuck. You need to realise everyone's experiences are different and accept that!!!

Per my Dr.'s instructions, I was only on clear liquids for 2 days post-op. Yogurt was part of my "full liquids/pureed foods" diet which started on day 3 after surgery. I'm sure you would be fine. Just take it slow and make sure there are no small bits of fruit...it has to be completely smooth so as not to get stuck in your staple line.

Hey everyone just to clarify I asked if anyone else was experiencing the urge to have yogurt I wasn't asking for directions from strangers just simple opinions in conversation I appreciate everybody responding

With that being said I did go ahead and have some Greek yogurt 1 tablespoon I watered it down with couple splashes of Water and I put some PB two in it and mixed it up it went down perfectly no sick feeling and I really enjoyed it I had the Greek yogurt with 22 g of Protein per cup and the PB two also had Protein I felt good after getting some protein and calories

They gave me low fat vanilla yogurt with powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury in it in the hospital the day after my surgery.

Something I've realized on this site is the variations among doctors is amazing when it comes to what to eat when.

There's one person posting that their doc keeps them on Clear liquids for over a week after surgery while others are on puréed in the second week.

I'm glad my doctor gave me a clear cut guide to follow for safety. But 6 days post I'm finding that my body is telling me what I can tolerate.

I was sleeved last Monday and have been on clear no sugar liquids since. My follow up is late Wednesday afternoon. I am more week today than I was on day 3. Per the post op diet I should be onto mushy foods and full liquids now. I'm paranoid about moving on before my appt.

I had yogurt on day 6 but one cup would last me over a day. Put some on my tongue and wait half an hour to see how it goes.. that's me. I don't know what your body would do to you if you tried that.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
