does anyone know if there is a time frame that you should wait from after banding to flying out of the country? I am not sure when I will be banded yet but I am hoping before the end of the year and I am also looking to take a vacation to visit a friend out of the country possibly in January.

I was banded in Mexico and flew home 3 days later. I got a little nauseas on the plane, but that's it.

My doctor advised that when flying after a fill, to try sipping Water on the flight before eating anything just to be sure it would go down. I imagine it would be good to do the same after banding. Apparently, flying can change the tightness of the band. My rings are always tighter after I have flown--my doctor says it's the same principle with the band, sometimes your band is tighter than others and it often corresponds with the tightness of your rings (not just when flying but day to day).

Hi Jetti, good luck with your banding, I don't think you should have any problems flying a couple of days after your op. But it is true about the band swelling I am a flight attendant and can only drink watery Soups and Protein Drinks on board, if it is only a couple of days after op, I would try and sip apple juice and Water only, during the flight!

Cheers Fiona

I flew home from Mexico after being banded, but I have heard something about letting the band down before flying. You should check with your doc about that. When I flew there was nothing in mine, but there were two in our group that did have small fills and no problems at all.

I flew 3 months post-op, and noticed nothing different. One was a long flight where they served dinner, and my restriction was no different.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
