Taking vitamins need help for up and coming surgery

Recommended Posts

I personally take Flintstones Complete chewable Multivitamins. I try to have a chewable version of all of the recommended supplements which helps tremendously with being able to get all of your supplements without getting sick. You can get chewable's on several different bariatric websites. Unfortunately, some of them (especially chewable Calcium citrate) can be costly. If you want a more affordable option for Calcium, CVS makes a calcium citrate tablet in a "petite" size which are easier to swallow. It's also helpful to spread your supplements out through the day rather than taking them all together.

I take Trader Joe's High Potency chewable multi-vitamins. For about the first six months after surgery I took one in the morning and one at night, both with meals. Then I switched to one per day. My labs have always been great. At my Trader Joe's the cost is $7.99 for a 90 count bottle, so either 11 cents per day or 6 cents per day depending on whether you took one or two.

These Vitamins never made me sick -- be sure to take any vitamins either with a meal or immediately after eating a meal.

Why would you get sick ?

Never happened with me.

Flintstone's chewables was one the ones recommend in my program. Iron chewables & B12 chewables as well.

The only other one I take is calcium citrate chewables (must be taken hours away from the Iron or absorption is hindered).

Bariatric Advantage is the brand I use. Flavor is off the chain good on the calcium citrate Chewy Bites (think Starburst fruit Chews candy) and the multi's taste great.

You simply have to time things and work out a schedule on when to take so you'll get the correct absorption. Your nutritionist and/or surgeon should provide you with both the brands/types/quantities and schedule for taking.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
