I had my sleeve on March 7, and have been doing really great, minus my little bump in the road 3 weeks post-op. I've been getting my Protein in daily and my Water. I've noticed that the last 3 weeks I've started to loss a little bit of hair, mostly in the shower. However the last week I've noticed if coming out all the time. When I shower there is a lot (enough to concern me), and throughout the day I am using a lint roller to roll hair off of my clothes and I'm always pulling multiple strands off my neck and shoulders. I've added in a Biotin pill ontop of my multi-Vitamin.

Is there any product suggestions or tips anyone can give me? I've always had thicker hair, but it's really starting to thin out and makes me nervous. Doctor says its hormones and once the weight loss isn't so rapid the Hair loss will stop. I don't want to go bald!!

Ugh....the hair loss thing is a real pain. I lost at least 2/3 of my volume. It started in the first couple of month and did not stop until I was 13 months post off.

I have very thick hair thank goodness.

Now, it came back and I have very very very curly hair now. Apparently as a young child I had very curly hair and so does my granddaughter. It is nearly impossible to straighten with a straight Iron. I asked both my surgical team about it as well as my dermatologist and they both said that can happen. It happens to cancer patients all the time.

My hair is so curly that it is 3 times as thick as it once was and I have had to learn from my 12 year old granddaughter how to take care of it. Thank goodness she is a girly girl and all about the hair and makeup.

The first time she saw all my curly hair left Curley, she said "MOMO, your hair is just like mine! " I just smiled nicely because all these years I was telling her how lucky she is to have Curley hair.

Guess what? I friggin hate it. It's too much work if you want to wear it straight.

By the way, nothing will stop you from losing it but Biotin and good Protein will ensure it comes back when the weight loss slows down. I remember hoping my weight loss wouldn't stop because I wasn't at goal and when it did at 13 months I was afraid I would not make it to goal.

Wrong again, just because it slows way down doesn't mean you are done, it just means you have to work harder at it.

Best of luck to you!

I, too, lost a lot of hair that is now growing back. It got very, very thin but I have lots of new growth. I'm 13 months out right now. I remember how frightening it was, but even though I have a way to go in the Hair loss dept, it is getting better. Part of the process from what I have heard. Lots of posts to be found if you search around on the site.

I started taking 10,000 mg of Biotin about 3 months before surgery. My hair has not fallen out in large strands. In fact my hair is thicker, my nails sure grow fast now too.

My surgeon's office didn't recommend Biotin because they didn't feel it helped any. I never took it, but was using Nioxin after surgery. I ran out and didnt' use it for a few months. My hair started falling out. I have been using Nioxin again for a week now and it seems to be stopping the loss at least. I don't know that it will regrow it, but at least its not getting any thinner. I got my hair cut right before surgery to a very short pixie and have kept it very short since. I have very fine hair to begin with and it was already thinning on the top, which was why I was using Nioxin - to prevent further thinning. The eye opener for me and motivation to get Nioxin again was that I now have visible bald/thinning Patches on the sides above my ears and on top I almost don't have any whispy pieces left for bangs! I knew it was coming and I think I am emotionally dealing with it okay, although sometimes I wish I could/think I should deal with it the way my brothers have with their increasing foreheads and shave it all off! Then people would really think I have cancer!

Good luck,

pam

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
