How was your pain after surgery? I am POD 1 and the pain after I take even the smallest sip is excruciating. Even with pain meds it takes breathe away. When does it start to go away???

I had pain first couple of days. Then pain when I drank something cold. Now I'm two weeks out and I have no pain swallowing. Try sipping using a baby spoon and see if that helps. I think sometimes our sip initially is just still too much lol. My NUT told me a month before my surgery to practice sipping from a baby spoon or a top from a Water bottle. It was helpful advice. It's like we have to recondition our mind for everything regarding this surgery.

it's weird I'm 3 days out and don't feel the need for the pain meds. Only pain right now is the incisions which are also starting to be itchy ( don't know if it's the scaring or the tape over it but the area is itchy right now.)

My post op pain was horrific!! I couldn't imagine feeling better even though that's what my nurses told me. I stayed in the hospital an extra day in order to manage my pain. Laying down hurt, rolling over in bed was awful and trying to get out of bed I almost always needed help from a nurse. However, it does indeed improve. I am 10 days post op and I am sore of I bend too much and sometimes turning in bed will send a sharp pain straight through my abdomen. Hang in there!!

Im on Pod 2 pain hasn't been bad, I just started with the gas pains, not sure if I can take anything to alleviate the pain, but have been waking and burping a lot. It seems to help.

You should be able to take Gas X. They have strips that melt on your tongue.

Pod 15 very little pain and exercising, I started out with drinking nothing but room temperature things, and I found the more I walked and sat up the more the gas moved and the less the pain, good luck and hope you feel better

I'm POD 1 and my gas pain was bad right after surgery and it's gotten a little better, pain from the incision sites is tolerable. Walking and sitting up has helped. Still waiting to pass gas...hope that happens soon.

I had hernia repair so I'm having more pain. Day 2 I tried to tuff it out. I caved in around 6:00 got a low grade fever. I think I was getting pneumonia I needed to breath into the spirometer. I have been and my lungs cleared. Better and the pain meds do the trick.tomorrow I get to go home.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
