I'm going to jump into this thread as I was wondering what I can take post-op for bowel issues. I was originally scheduled for surgery in May, so did my 2-week, high Protein, liquid-only pre-op diet. I was SO constipated, I started taking psyllium (I'm not sure what brand... one of the OTC that you stir into water). It helped a little, but I KNOW it's not allowed post-surgery. My surgery was canceled (on day 13 of the pre-op diet... grrr... at least I know I can do it, though) and now I'm rescheduled for July 18. I am thinking that this time I'll take the psyllium pre-surgery and the Miralax post-surgery. Should I wait a few days before starting the Miralax, or just go with it as I can tolerate it? I've asked my surgeons but honestly, they don't have much to say about post-op experience (just follow the diet and keep the appointments). I REALLY don't want to be trying to deliver a "butt baby" after surgery!

Well I took Dulcolax like 3 days ago and I have surgery on Tuesday. My Constipation was real bad so I had no option, try and talk to your surgeon because the more constipated you get the worst.

My plan says try drinking lots of fluids and walking, baby prunes, benefiber (only if well hydrated or will make things worse), stool softener and if none of that works 1/2 dose milk of magnesia.

I was worried as you are after my surgery but my doctor assured me that it's okay and the sixth day I went to the bathroom. Just make sure than you drink at least 1.5 liters of Water.

I had my surgery in June 7th so I am in my third week. You will be okay

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
