Pregnancy weight is temporary. If you eat healthy you shouldnt gain that much weight.

How soon can someone get pregnant post vsg?

Sent from my SM-N920P using the BariatricPal App

You can get pregnant immediately ???? but you shouldn't get pregnant for 18-24 months post op. This was drilled into my heads several times even though I'm too old to have children!

Do you know the most effective form of birth control for the sleeve?

I think IUD. I haven't talked to my surgeon about my oral contraception yet (it would be just my luck to get pregnant at 48 years old!) Lol

My surgeon said to avoid pregnancy for a year. After 16 years of trying, not sure we can wait that long...

My Drs said 24 months until you should start trying. Although I have a friend that got pregnant right after she was a year out, so I guess not everyone listened.

I'd think it would be important to be at goal longer than 1 month before you try to get pregnant. You could get lucky and get pregnant right away. Losing weight quickly and then gaining again might make it harder post-baby to lose weight again.

My drs said that people who get pregnant before 2 years out tend to gain more weight overall and find it harder to reach their goal weight (post baby).

It's important to wait to improve chances of a healthier pregnancy and healthy baby.

Oh I know! Like I was saying to my hubs the other day, "I'm still learning how to feed myself, I'm nowhere near ready to eat for 2!" LOL It's just that we've been trying for what feels like forever, and to have to wait even longer...it's exhausting. :(

I know you are being funny, but if you have the mindset of eating for two you'll end up gaining too much weight. You only need a few hundred extra calories, and really not even at the beginning. Luckily you'll be able to meet that need with a Protein shake :)

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
