I had the sleeve 2 1/2 years ago and returned to work a week after surgery. I am having a revision to Gastric Bypass in September or October and I was wondering how long I would be off from work. Was anybody able to go back to work after a week or did it take longer? I'm a bit OCD and like to plan things out in advance but I have no idea what to expect this time around.

Well normally I would say 2 weeks to at least get used to the new lifestyle (and at least 2 weeks of liquid diet). However, since you have had sleeve before, you know the rules and may not need the extra time to get used to it. How did you do going about after sleeve?

I'm a college teacher. Had surgery on Tuesday taught 90 mins following Monday and four hours Wednesday. I was off from my full time teaching job. I was very tired. My students were understanding. If you have desk job I think week could be ok. Good luck! I revised from band to bypass.

I asked this questions before my surgery and didn't understand why people took so much time off.... Everyone is different. I had surgery thrusday and went back to work on Tuesday ... Yes I was tired but being at home bored wasn't going to help me

I took 2 weeks off and it was about perfect. I wouldn't have been able to go back after a week...I was ready after 2.

Definitely depends on the job. I have a few different part-time jobs. One is from home, so I went back to that one after five days. The others i went back to after 10 days.

At my one week post-op appointment, my doctor told me we would talk about going back to work at my next appointment, three weeks later. That seems like a rather long time. Thankfully I am a student, and the surgery date fell very close to the beginning of my summer break. I couldn't imagine taking off four weeks of work for any reason at my last job.

I had a sleeve a few years back and took two weeks off. I just had my revision to a mini gastric bypass (I recognize that the recovery might be different for the mini option) on June 13th and was back to work the following Monday. I have a mostly desk job and noticed that I was a little tired, but felt fine other than that. I was actually surprised how much easier it was the second time around.

I had a friend who had surgery on Wednesday and was at work on Monday. He works at a hospital (not a nurse) and does a lot of walking. He's totally fine. Some kind of freak of nature, lol.

I had RNY surgery on a Wednesday, got out of the hospital on Sunday, and went back to work on Monday. I don't recommend it though.. I work from home, so I could lay in a recliner all day. But your body is still healing and you have no energy. I'd recommend 1-2 weeks depending on how you feel.

I have 3 weeks off. I have an office job but have to carry my laptop and other things around our campus to different meetings all day and it would be too much right away. I am thankful for the three weeks to make sure I have developed good eating and walking habits before jumping back into a job that is very busy and consuming!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
