So Surgery was May 31st.. and I'm getting pushed to eat every couple hours even though I fee like I've just had a gourmet meal. I know I need to get my Protein and nutrition in but is this normal? I don't enjoy having my nurses really push me when I feel legitimately full and like more food will make me sick. Thoughts?

You are still in the hospital? Did you have complications?

I only stayed over night and the nurses never brought me any food to eat. Just ice chips and Water.

I don't think they should be pushing you...what are they making you eat? If you feel full then you should speak up and not eat, you need to heal

I would ask them what the concerns are - and see if there is something your team is watching, or if they are just following general protocol.

I would think they want you to eat to be sure you able to take in foods at regular intervals and keep it down before they release you... Since you don't feel like eating it probably feels like they are pushing you... Along with the fact we normal eat when we want not when someone else decides

No complicated except fixing a hiatal hernia and stricture of my esophagus from it (which is part of why it's hard to eat) .. I don't think it's so much anything they're watching but that they that they want to be sure I get in all my Protein. I'll just stick to eating regularly - when I do feel up to it and watching my Protein and Fluid intake. I get to go home today so then at least I can get away from them.

All they did was make he drink fluids, but eat anything. I have 3 weeks liquid, 2 weeks puréed and then onto soft foods.

When I was in the hospital they only forced me to walk. The doctor made sure I had plenty of Iv fluids so I wouldn't be dehydrated.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
