I'm 8 days post op and have been fine up until today. I can't even move today. I've been off pain meds since last week in the hospital. I've been walking up and doing things. And today I've been crying because this pain. It's like pulling but feels like my insides are falling out and this damn drain is pulling too.

I know how you feel. I don't like them either but you have to think your body has just been through a large amount of trauma and it needs time to heal. The pain meds are to calm your body and not put to much stress on yourself. I'm 17 days post op and I used them up until about day 11 then the pain was not that bad. Please remember your body needs rest. My suggestion would be to maybe take some pain meds to mild down the pain. The more pain you are in the more stress you put on your body. Hope all goes well for you! You've got this! Best wishes

I had same thing... Came home from hospital got to a point where I was feeling good started doing things and BAM! Felt like I got worse, went back on pain meds and started to take it easy and today finally seem to be doing better. I have to tell this to myself all the time but you do have to rest... Plus we are still weak after surgery and get tired fast.

The pulling is your body healing... I actually had very bad episode yesterday where I had horrible pain where my port used to be (I am revision from bypass). I got up to get something and just burst we into tears it was that painful. Talked to the dr today they said it's the healing process and I got local pain meds patch to apply to that area.

I don't like taking pain meds either but plz take it if you are in pain, it will help...

If they gave you pills I would crush one up and put it in one of your liquids and drink it. Let the most of it dissolve and then drink it.

Do not take narcotic pain medication any way other than prescribed. Always take as directed.

Give it time. Be careful of that drain tube incision, easy for body bugs to crawl in that saying and you could get an infection, exactly what happened to me on day 10. My drain tube came out on day seven, flew home and started having issues. Make sure that area stays clean. The polling pain is very normal, do your walking, take it easy and take your pain meds. You should have gotten a liquid narcotic pain med as well as a prescription for nausea medication. If you didn't, call your doctor. Trust me, it helps. I was off of my pain meds at day 12.

I am four weeks postop yesterday, and the pain is finally subsiding I can hardly tell it anymore. You have been through major surgery, you will start feeling better.

You are just barely over one week since surgery. Whether you believe it or not, this surgery is a pretty major surgery. Parts of your insides have been moved, removed, stapled/stitched, and bypassed. Your insides are going to hurt and feel like pulling. In essence, you have at least 5 stab wounds on your body. If you still have your drain tube, that was the worst part of it all for me. I hated the drain tube. Once it is removed, please keep the area clean and covered until it scabs over to avoid any type of infection. Walking is very important every day, but try not to overdo it. Definitely rest; your body needs to rest to heal.

I am 6 weeks post op and feeling pretty good. I don't really feel like I had surgery 6 weeks ago so the pain will subside. If you have pain meds, please take them so you don't have to suffer. You will be completely off them before you know it.

I was told by my surgeon a sudden increase in pain can be an indicator of a leak and to call him immediately. Given you have had no significant pain until today id call the surgeon to discuss this

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
