Hey my first post here!

I'm 6weeks out and I'm really struggling to stay hydrated. I live in the tropics so hydration is always an issue but now more than ever! I feel like I'm constantly drinking and it's a pain when I have to stop to eat, just really worried about what I'm doing to my kidneys if I stay dehydrated!

I have a drink with me at all times and I must drink around 3 liters a day.

I had my surgery done in India... ONLY $4500!! Excellent surgeon great follow up... Just worrying about dehydration

Welcome!

All I can suggest is that you just keep sipping. You probably will be sipping constantly until the swelling goes down and you can consume more liquids at once.

Are you just drinking Water?

Out of surgery my surgeon only recommended I get 2 liters of Fluid a day, that is the same now but more is always welcome. You wont be dehydrated on even a 1.5 liters but as always more is better. Id say you can have a goal of 3 liters a day but just drink as much as you can. You'd have to basically not be drinking any Water to hurt your kidneys any and even in that case it would have to be for a long time before you'd do any permanent damage. I've got patients who already have kidney disease and the only Water they drink in a day is enough to take their medicine, otherwise they drink coffee and soda

After RNY gastric bypass surgery, my surgeon recommended drinking 64-80 ounces (1.9-2.4 liters) of Fluid daily. Since you live in the tropics, I can understand the need to consume a little more. As the fat cells dissolve, they release chemicals and hormones stored inside and these need to be flush through your kidneys. That is why drinking fluids is important.

But many things can help you meet this daily goal.

The liquid portion of the Protein shakes count.

The Water you drink to swallow your Vitamins counts.

The Water portion of Soups count.

Milk counts.

Tea counts.

I was drinking around 70 oz a day first few weeks, but now I drink close to 100 oz a day between coffees,

teas, crystal lites, waters etc everyone says it increases the weight loss.

Today at my weigh in I was 194, which is 11 lbs LESS than my original goal weight, I feel sooooo much healthier now as I really get light, everything is easier to do, stairs, walking, tying shoes etc

Have your tried putting a little lite cordial/squash in your Water? My surgeon said for some reason our bodies metabolise the water when it's a little heavier after surgery. I find if I drink plain water it doesn't quench my thirst, but the cordial makes a difference.

Hi please can you tell me what hospital in India you got your surgery and name of surgeon I'm considering going to India for my surgery as well. Did you have a good experience? I'm kind of nervous.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
