calorie in less than calories out doesn't assure weight loss

Amazon does have the table of contents, but nothing in the TOC indicates scientific citations. Those are what I was looking for.

None of what appears in that image is remotely scientific. They're references to news stories and statistics. Where is the actual science?

He's citing peer-reviewed journal articles and other sources as his sources to how he formulated his theory. He doesn't have to perform scientific experiments to form a theory based on his experience and readings....it's simply.... a theory.

Just about every other book on weight loss has a similar formula. They are all theories.

Interesting. All of it., thank you. We are all still trying to find our way. What resonated with me is that I have tried counting calories, as I am sure we all have, & it didn't work. If I ate carbs but still stayed within a certain amount of calories, I found I didn't lose, however using the same number of calories & eating Protein & vegetables, I found I lost. Again no one has found the magic formula yet but this book so far goes with what I have learned thruout my own history of dieting.

By the way, there is a list of chapters in the beginning of the book & he does have an index in the back where he lists his sources as well as indicating this in the reading material. Doesn't make sense that Amazon doesn't show this......

I think you did a good job explaining. The book seems like a really interesting journey through the science. I am a scientist, so I have read or skimmed a lot of abstracts, and there are a lot of pieces to the puzzle. I have to check out this book, but I am very interested because this book seems to go through a lot of the weight loss fads, societal implications, what we knew then, what we know now, and what we still don't know. Where is research heading? What are the new paradigms? I can pick up any recent review on obesity literature to get a sense of the recent publications, but this really seems to put it in context. It is the big picture, but seems to zoom into some of the biological details as well.

2goldengirl....how many "scientific" breakthroughs today become tomorrow's "oops...we made a mistake based on new findings"? I just thought the guy made sense.....take & use what u can & the rest ignore....I didn't intend to do anything but offer a suggestion to read a book that may help....it may turn out to work for some people..just like bariatric surgery works for some & not others, depending on how u work it....

Thank you all for posting....one of these days I hope no one suffers from obesity but until then, we can keep looking for, & sharing ideas

@@More than this, thank you. I downloaded the book to my kindle on my phone as well. You are absolutely right about sharing it and I'm very glad you did. Some people believe everything they are told or read, and therefore question the sources to a fault. Although source is important, it's good to use your own logic as well. Interesting book and I will get a lot out of it.

OK finally found time to read my copy of the book. Put it this way, I won't be lending it out to friends as I want to keep it close by as a reference-not as my bible-just my reference. It has made me take a lot more notice of other publications which I am now reading and formulating in my own mind. For anyone unsure about what various foods do their bodies then 'The Obesity Code' is worth a read. Even if you just pick up one little nugget of information from it that nugget can be invaluable in your weight loss journey. I know that I found quite a few of little (worth their weight in) gold nuggets which I shall remember.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
