Hi,

I am having my surgery on May 12th, and I was sharing your same feeling. I am so happy that the time is so close but i am worried about the pain afterwords. Good luck to the both of us:)

Some experience a lot of pain, others don't. I myself did not have huge pain; more soreness than anything. You feel like you worked out for 3 days nonstop. There was some discomfort with certain movements, but I can honestly say I didn't have major pain. I'm almost 3 weeks out and this was my first week back to work. Of course I work in an office, so a desk job that is not too physically demanding on my body. I do have to get up and move around a bit though otherwise I get a bit sore from sitting!!

You will be fine on the day. I am nearly a year out and my only regret is that I didn't do this years ago. Follow the advice given by your surgeon and your nut, try to get moving as soon as possible after surgery. Take life at a gentler pace for some time after surgery, accept all offers of help! Most importantly, look forward to getting a whole new lease of life post surgery, you have so much to look forward to, trust me on this. Best of luck

I think I was at my worst the day of surgery. I started crying in the waiting room because no one went with me to support me and it was kinda scary. I kept saying to myself that I'm going to get skinny and be happy and there is nothing anyone can do to stop me. I had to talk to my doctor about a anxiety medication after surgery. I am good now

I am 27 days away from surgery. I'm pretty nervous. If I'm this nervous now, I can't imagine what I will be like on surgery day.

9 days away and so anxious I'm practically levitating. I'd go smoke a bowl- something I haven't done since Reagan was in office- if I didn't fear the munchies so much. I'm only sleeping by the grace of Benadryl. My poor husband is probably trying to find me an Ativan diffuser for Mother's Day.

But as scared as I am, I'm more afraid of going blind or having a foot amputated or losing my freedom and mobility so I will suck it up and do what needs to be done. Hopefully in a few months I'll be back here reassuring others that it's the best thing ever long-term.

I was a nervous wreck in the days leading up to surgery, but the morning of my surgery I was totally Zen. The nurse even had to double check twice to make sure I hadn't already gotten the Valium or whatever because I was just so calm. I'm sure you will do fine. Just find your inner skinny personal and go Zen! [emoji6]

I'm so sorry you didn't have anyone there. I would be crying as well.

I'm pretty sure I will find peace on Monday. I have moments of it now. But some back & forth with emotions. I felt a peace up until this morning when I got the call with my time of surgery. Then after the gym I ate way too much and cried on hubby's shoulder when he got home. But I'm ok now.

I own my own photography business and I'm editing as much of a wedding as I can by Sunday so keeping focused on that helps me keep my mind off of it. Also helps that I've got people praying for me. Positive self talk works wonders. Congrats to all of you with dates coming up. This is the start of our new lives!

Sounds like you've crafted a great pre-op plan. You're already building a foundation of success.

I, too, found that when my surgery day came a calm washed over me. All my planning was behind me and I was excited to begin my new opportunity at life. I did get a little choked up when my surgeon came in to check on me before they wheeled me back but I found an amazing surgeon and felt confident and at peace putting my life in his hands.

Be well and God's speed on your recovery.

Thanks Daniele.

I just started my new life as I ate my last meal and tomorrow is a liquid diet then Monday is the day. I go from excited to nervous then at peace. But deep down, I'm at peace. No one could possibly understand this thing that we go through unless they too go through it. It's huge. But this process has already strengthened me. Thanks for the support.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
