But I've nowhere else to turn . And I always appreciate everyone's thoughts and advice here . I haven't gone to the bathroom in over a week now. Been taking my softners daily and I took some milk of magnesia . Nothing! On top of that whenever I'm constipated I'm constantly hungry and wanting to snack to the point where I'm terrified my sleeve is stretching ... Thoughts?

well that liquid stuff they have you take before surgery is an option - but how long after the milk of magnesia? What does your team say about it?

how interesting that you feel hungry - I feel like I can't eat one more bite when I am in that situation.

I think that you are reaching for Snacks because you're stressed---just like the good ol' days, before WLS.

Usually when some one is constipated there's no room for more food. I'm think'n your hunger is the dreaded head hunger. That doesn't make it any easier to live with, but maybe just a wee bit more understandable.--and when something is understandable, it is manageable.

I think a call your bariatric team is warranted. If it concerns you enough to stress about then it's worth a call. They will be able to guide you because the "know" you.

Please keep us posted. We care about you. You know that. :)

Are you drinking enough Water? How much Fluid are you consuming?

Definitely give your surgeon's office a call.

I haven't made it to 64 oz a day but I'm in the guidelines I got from Doctor/nutritionist . I had a case where I did get dehydrated and was pretty sick but when I figured out it was dehydration I've been sticking to my Water religiously . But it seems it's been since then that I was able to go. I hope I'm not ... What's the word... Impacted ?

What worked for me was glycerin suppositories.

I was told by My Doctor your sleeve can't stretch.( I still feel like I can stretch my stomach) I mean the muscles relax a couple of months after surgery but your stomach can not go back to the size it was.(They removed that part) The people that gain the weight after the surgery is from eating like crap again. I have days I feel more hungry then others and on those does I make sure I am putting Protein in my mouth not junk. I had the same problem with going to the bathroom. I work a Hospital and I went to the ED at work because I didn't go for about 2 weeks and it got to the point my rectum had a pulse because I was trying to force myself to go. (It does get better promise!) I go about every 2 days now which is fine by me because I was going about 8 times a day because of the junk I was eating before the surgery.

Try Benefiber. A few teaspons a day will keep you regular.

Just be careful with benefiber. I was told to take it by the office nurse and put it in everything as she told me to do. It was too much Fiber and caused me horrible pain!! Now I just blend a few prunes in my Protein shake and use a suppository when I need to. I'm not saying don't take it, just start slow.

I second the prunes and raise it to a couple of cups of "smooth move" tea. Suppositories come next as a try. Then perhaps an enema.

Lots of us have gone through this rather private yet painful experience and try to change a bit of eating and drinking so our bodies are working correctly.

Don't freak out when you do go! Someone posted ( and I laughed out loud) it was like passing a pineapple. Best of luck getting things moving.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
