Minimum recommended by surgeon and RD is 64 gm, based on both my starting and ideal weights.

Shoot for as many grams of Protein per day as your goal weight. 150 pounds=150 grams per day etc...

Wow! That's surprising. I'm not saying it's wrong by any means. I'm just surprised.

So, if one's goal weight is 250, their Protein intake should be 250g? Wow! I guess it just goes to illustrate just how different all of the WLS programs are.

:)

Not getting enough Protein is terrible for your body especially post bypass. You would eat the Protein equal to a healthy goal weight. No one should have a goal weight of 250 unless they are a taller man.

If a male weighed 500# plus, they could very well have a goal weight of 250#. If I am following the poster's program, I would aim to ingest 250gr of protein/day? I'm just asking. Is that what that particular program aims for?

I am 10 weeks post bypass. What if you do not get in the recommended 64g? What does this effect? Could it stall your weight loss?

Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Yes, at the vey least it will stall your weight loss. If you don't get enough Protein your body will consume itself (muscles and organs like your heart).

We need Protein to keep our metabolisms running, to build and repair muscle, skin, hair, etc.

I am still pondering this program's recommendation for protein intake.

There are many WLS folks whose goal weight could very well be 250#. My question is--according to the above post, are those folks supposed to ingest 250g/daily?

I am not being negative or accusatory. I am simply asking the question.

Looking forward to learning...

I am 7.5 months out. I do about 50g a day in "supplements (shake and bar) alone plus actual food. I think I'm getting about 75 or more g a day.

Depending on your size too many grams could burn out ur kidneys. 150 or 250 sounds like quite a bit but best to go with what your Dr recommended, because larger people may need more. Also you want to spare muscle mass and lose fat so you may need more Protein.< /p>

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
