Liquid diet begins....

Recommended Posts

@@Heatherg0907 think positive thoughts. I know how cliche and annoying it can be to hear that, but you truly can set yourself up for failure if you begin by thinking you're going to fail.

I will say a prayer for you and your success this time around!!

For the most part I am very positive and I'm very motivated to do this right. I really think having this forum and seeing how successful everyone is will help also. My husband is very positive and is with me all the way. I do however have some friends that have said they are afraid I will fail so I think that's where the negative thoughts come in. I can't wait for May 6th so I can't start my new healthy life. Thank you for your nice words. Good luck to you also. You are so close. Please let me know how everything goes. And I'll be praying for you!!

Hi this is my first time posting as well and my surgery date is April 11 I am on day three but not all liquid and I am craving carbs like crazy! I too have a supportive husband, but he's a chef! Lol he's used to bringing home meals etc. I'm not having to prep accept for myself and I find wanting something to crunch on is getting me. I'm seriously thinking of freezing small broth ice cubes for Snacks.

What exactly can you have on preop diet, ideas please?

Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I am allowed to have Protein shakes/drinks, Water, broth, sugar free Jello, sugar free popsicles, Decaf coffee/tea, calorie free decaf any type of drink.

I am a diabetic T2 and have to use everything that is sugar free, so it is hard for me to hit 800 calories a day on this diet (that is the amount of calories permitted).

I can have the same things. But also Greek yogurt plain with no fruit or chunks. It's pretty difficult... But I'm ending my third day and I think tomorrow will be a bit easier. I HOPE anyway. LoL. I do agree that getting 800 cals in is difficult. Ugh. It's not fun but it's a means to an end right?

I'm from Texas!

The liquid diet gets better! As long as you muscle through the first couple of days, it quits being miserable. My Bariatric Advantage vegetable Soup has been the best thing. Being able to eat something savory with a spoon has mentally made it so much easier. Plus, I'm stuffed after a small bowl of it.

Yay! You're in the club of April dates. Haha I am from Maine. I was informed recently that a large percentage of Americans think that Maine is part of Canada. It's not.

Hahah. Geography is def. not one of my finer Points but I did know y'all aren't part of Canada. :) I'm from Nebraska! Brittney are you on ALL liquid only? I read where some are allowed high Protein low carb and then some are all liquids with certain exceptions of carrots. Salary etc etc.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
