Okay so I might be getting a place of my own this week. Since 2009 I've dreamed of moving to this particular place. I used to stay there with an ex-boyfriend at one point and always wanted to live there on my own but there were all sorts of obstacles that prevented me from getting the gall to apply, I was afraid I wouldn't meet all the requirements but I prayed really hard and worked really hard over the past year to do whatever I can to qualify for this place. I don't want to live anywhere else. I put all my eggs in one basket pretty much but that's how badly I wanted to live there lol.

Anyways so its pending a final approval and I informed the property manger that I would be having surgery soon so I would like to know when I would be able to move in and that's when she told me this very upcoming week if everything goes fine however, someone died in the place. An old lady who supposedly died from old age and I was told that I need to sign a waiver saying that I was informed.

I don't know if I believe in ghosts or what not really. Part of me does especially when alone, part of me doesn't. I sometimes suffer from sleep paralysis, where my eyes are open and I can't move and sometimes hallucinate creepy things. I just don't know if I should move into this place now knowing someone died. To be honest I wish the property manager never told me. Anyways would you do it?

Everybody leaves this life at some point, it's only temporary and the spirit lives on....happens every minute of every day for 1000's and 1000's of years....if you're afraid to go somewhere where someone has died, well you have bigger issues.

BTW, better stay away from the hospital, and the OR for that matter...lots of people die there everyday....

The way she died makes a huge difference. I would not have a problem with someone passing from old age in their home. In fact my mother n law passed away from old age in her home. I was there with her when she passed.

Since then I have both been in the house hundreds of times and even slept there many. Yes, I thought about it but everything was fine.

Now, if it were the scene of a grisly murder, I personally would pass.

Sheesh. Until I read this, I never thought about it, but three family members have died at home in my mother's house where I live right now. My grandmother, my aunt and my dad. Right in the room I'm sitting in as a matter of fact. Not natural causes (stroke/cancer/ALS). I'll bet lots of homes have had owners die at home.

But, just to nitpick --- stroke, ALS, and cancer are natural causes. Maybe premature in the modern sense but certainly natural.

Gone are the days of women dying at age 40 (or much younger) in childbirth and men dying in large numbers on the battlefield.

Natural causes wouldn't bother me........suicide and/or murder would. When I was looking at houses I looked at one where the owner had committed suicide (I didn't know or I wouldn't have even looked). It was a creepy house with a dirt basement and the realtor didn't disclose it but I wasn't interested! I found out later and I hope he disclosed it to whomever bought it.

I am not actually sure WHAT I believe, but I have been personally present at two deaths. I also helped prepare my sisters body (makeup, hair, nails) because we knew the pros would make her look like an old lady.

Those experiences have taught me that death is something that happens to everyone who had the privelidge of living.

It wouldn't bother me, but I think our own minds are very powerful and will determine how you experience this:

a. non event

b. benign but spirtual

c. weird/creepy haunting

But I do think like everyone else that if it was a murder I would probably want to maybe get the sleeping bag and check it out before hand.

The experience that Dub mentioned I have had before, along with waking up with the lights on in my house that were OFF when I went to sleep. The lights was twice, that was weird.

I also have felt someone sit on the bed next to me. I woke up and could kind of "sense" who it was and why he was there.

I believe its possible but I was never scared.

I've lived in a couple places where someone has passed. Nothing ever happened.

My ex-boyfriend is a realtor and told me some states, but not all, require they reveal if a person has died on a property before they sell it. Unless you're living in relatively new construction, there's a good chance many of us have lived in a home where someone died. Dying of old age at home doesn't sound like a big deal really.

I assume you've toured the place? If it was "haunted," whoever is managing the property would probably have trouble with upkeep. Same ex-boyfriend told me he knows which houses in our area are haunted. Maybe one or two people buy them and dump them shortly after. Then they stay vacant. The yards are a mess and simple repairs aren't made because whoever is hired to do that work quits quickly and suddenly.

If the place looks like it's been kept up, that's probably a good sign.

If you feel uneasy get a home blessing. It is.nice to have one anyway.

There is a reason your drawn to this place and I wouldn't give up on it over a death. Even If you live in new construction there is a chance of a death on the land it is what it is.

As to haunted houses, I live in central Kentucky and know of a couple of "haunted houses" that are old but very well kept up and quite nice. I guess it depends on the nature of the "haunting"!

I totally agree with this. My childhood house was over 150 years old and I know of one elderly woman who died of natural causes in the house. Never had an issue and I don't discount afterlife/ supernatural is possible. But would not buy a house where a murder or suicide occurred.
