One heck of a roller coaster that I won't dare stop riding!

I started this process in June/2015 the surgery was August/2015. I went through so many different emotions, one of the largest hurdles was bored eating. My family didn't support me. The only 2 people that did was my husband and sister. Everyone else said it was the "easy way out". I couldn't play with my children. Go on field trips with them or anything like that. I would sit on the bench during the time at the park because I couldn't keep up with them with out feeling out of breath and embarrassing them. I Had to sleep downstairs sometimes because I couldn't make it up stairs. (Laziness) Coming to this decision was never an easy task, but ultimately the best decision I've made in a long time. I've hit stalls, have extra skin, boobs are non existent etc, post-260396-14576227768572_thumb.jpg post-260396-14576228451023_thumb.jpg post-260396-14576228654048_thumb.jpg post-260396-14576229047198_thumb.jpgbut I wouldn't change anything about this journey. Sure I can't eat like I did before but who would miss that when that's the reason I was overweight to begin with. There are days that I want a burger with the works lol, but I'm learning to curb my cravings or wants. I love the new me and I won't allow food to win ever again.

You can still have the burger, just minus the bun, Condiments and fries. I eat them all the time. Congrats!

And that's all you need, the people who love and understand you. Others have to learn in their own time, and if they prefer to stay closed-minded then that's something that's out of your control. They may live this life and never understand. No one can ever truly get IN your shoes but you. You are blessed and you look beautiful and I am so happy to hear how much you have celebrated this procedure!

Congratulations!

Congratulations, you're doing great!!! Restaurant eating is easy! Skip the pre-dinner bread and cocktails, order a nice cut of meat (don't worry about the sauce), trade-in the starch for a second veggie, skip dessert, and take the leftovers home for tomorrow's lunch. That's still more than you can eat in one meal, right? And by the way, a burger with cooked mushrooms and onions (and blue cheese if you like) is even more amazing without the bun! Enjoy the ride!!!

Thanks!! Yea restaurant eating still amazes me .. I love it even more I'm basically paying for lunch and dinner I'm always tickled by that. I'm going to have to try the burger with the mushrooms I've never had them before. Sounds tasty!

I always joke that I'm a "cheap date" now, because I'm always ordering off the appetizer menu or just sharing an entree.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!
