New here and so anxious

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone. I just started my journey. I haven't yet spoken with a surgeon only have the referral.

Im scared to death. I know its common and everyone gets a little scared but as I picture myself going into surgery Im afraid I will chicken out.

I do have severe anxiety so that doesn't help. I know its not very likely I will not make it out and I have to do this or I will reach a early death. Im just about to be 37, 5ft 2, 255 pounds. I have been this weight since I had my first child 19 yrs ago.

Not only am I anxious about the surgery, I'm scared of the results. LOL... sounds ridiculous, I know. All I have really known is this weight. I know in my heart I will be so happy, but my head is running wild with thoughts of not knowing myself anymore. I dont handle change well, but I really want to be healthy. Counseling will help hopefully.

Im also a huge sugar addict and love carbs (hence why I am at this weight). Which I have learned will be a big no no if I want to be successful. Anyone else have things fears and hurdles?

Hey mamakatx3...I am 38. I signed up Jan 5 2016. I will have my sleeve done in April 2016. You are going to do well. I've lost 20lbs so far on my diet. I'm so ready for the lifestyle change.

Absolutely all the same fears, even the fear of success. It's all normal. I just had to stay busy and keep my eye on the prize which was being able to see every football game and activity my son preformed in his senior year. It's all worth it I promise. My Doctor had me write down the top 10 reason for doing this and I look back on it even now.

You will go through so many emotions over the next few months. Just remember it's normal, come here to vent and discuss and know that most go through the same feelings. You're not alone. :)

You have so much to look forward to when your health and quality of life improve. Are all changes bad? I remember when Dad bought our first microwave in the 1970's. Mom thought it would make her brain explode until she realized how much easier it made her life.

Yes, I have personally changed since my surgery. I have more confidence and don't take anyone's BS anymore. I realize my value and am more sympathetic towards people who have to rise above overwhelming circumstances. Plus, I know a whole lot more about nutrition.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
