Pregnant and overwhelmed need HELP!

Recommended Posts

Hi I'm 6 1/2 months post op and I have recently found out I am pregnant. I don't think it is the fact that I am pregnant but the fact that I might be losing this baby too and the doctors ( Gynecologist) doesn't seem to want to tell me any of the results until he see me in a month. I am beginning to have emotional eating because of this and feel like it is out of my control. Have have lost a total of 120 lbs. 30 pre-op and 90 post op I don't want to be the person that gains all the weight back I need good advice and some motivation. I have been placed on bed rest until further notice. I need help and fast.

Can they refer you to a therapist? Also, talk to your nutritionist about your food goals with pregnancy.

I have spoken to my nutritionist she said that they need the results, but the doctor said they can't give it to them because they need to talk to me first. Smh so I ask should I go to another doctor and my nutritionist said it would be vent take longer. I did everything right, I started taking birth control the week after surgery and it still didn't help me at all.

This is what i would do (and have done under similar circumstances during my first pregnancy): walk into the Dr. office with or without an appt Monday morning and demand to see that doctor to discuss the test results. Tell them you won't take no for an answer because it's having a significant impact on your overall health and wellbeing, thereby impacting the health and wellness of your unborn child. A month will simply not do.

Don't tolerate that! You have a legal right to your results! God forbid if something is wrong making you wait a month could endanger you and your baby. Tell you will hold them liable if someone doesn't come meet with you and show you your results immediately!

Telling someone something is wrong (or insinuating such), but they will tell you in a month, is simply cruel. I would do as has been suggested. I would say it is not likely something that would put you/baby at immediate risk, as they would have to act immediately, but this is still cruel and uncalled for.

Please let us know what happens....

Praying for a positive outcome.

Well I went to go see the doctor today and all they told me is that my HCG levels are going up but it does not mean that I might be pregnant. They said sometime the body will pretend it is pregnant so they are having wait until Wednesday to do the ultrasound. I asked why could they just do it today and they said because they don't have time then I asked if they were going to give the results then and I have to wait to see the doctor. I was referred to this doctor because he supposedly takes good care of his patients but that is not the case. I'm so mad now.

That sounds like a load of horse pooh to me. The condition you're describing is rare. If hcg levels are going up and you are sexually active and a woman of child bearing potential, then you are probably pregnant.

Have you taken a home pregnancy test? They are very accurate nowadays.

Sometimes they delay an ultrasound because they know they can't get a definitive answer too early. You might see a gestational sac at 5 weeks. A fetal pole at 6. But the heartbeat often doesn't show up until 7 weeks.

You could be experiencing a chemical pregnancy. An embryo that tried to implant but just couldn't hang on.

I'm sorry your doctors are so careless with their treatment. I hope you get a firm answer soon so you can start to process. And I hope it's the results you want.

I am so sorry for your loss. Having gone through the same thing (but not post-op) I know how awful it is. Praying for you and your family.

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
