Wrist Wearable HR Monitors

Recommended Posts

So now that I'm beyond my 1 month check point... The Doc says to focus more on heart rate and less on endurance cardio (more short jogs and less hour strolls).

That being said I have been looking to get a decent wrist HR monitor (watch band wearable). I'd love to hear your recommendations if you have some first hand experiences.

I've looked into these already, so if you have any personal testimony of these are good buys let me know:

Garmin Vivosmart HR

Fitbit Charge HR

Fitbit Surge

Fitbit Blaze (2016 release)

-I am an iPhone user.

-App works well with iPhone

-App had good data and features

-Doesn't have syncing issues

-I don't want anything that doesn't

have a HR monitor built into the watch (not interested in linkable chest straps and want not)

-I'm open to any reputable manufacture I didn't look into yet (Samsung, Polar... Exc.)

-Not interested in any bargain clone types that often get sold on Groupon or late night shopping networks.

-GPS is a plus

-Something less than $350 US

Thanks in advance for your input!

I love my fitbit HR charge. I wear it every day and it tracks everything all in one place.

Maybe I missed that sale. $399 retail for the basic watch unless I go refurbished and those are $319.

I have to say that I love my Apple Watch for heart rate monitoring specifically. I have found it to be extremely accurate plus it keeps your history right on your iPhone.

I had an issue with low heart rate, I was able to compare the results of my Apple Watch directly with a halter monitor. The Apple Watch is right on. In addition it has many other fitness features that work fantastic.

On top of that, you can get your messages, answer your phone and use Apple Pay very easily from this device. I absolutely love it!

You can find brand new ones on eBay fairly reasonable. I gave up my Fitbit her for the Apple Watch and I would never go back.

Just my two cents.

I love my FitBit Charge HR and I got my husband the Surge and he is happy with it. We are both iPhone users as well and haven't had any problems with syncing. I like the Surge but I feel that it is too bulky the Charge HR is the perfect size for me. I liked the Flex but I was missing out on the heart rate. The Blaze looks pretty cool and has more of that iWatch look but it's so new I haven't seen any reviews.

I agree with the Apple Watch since you have an iPhone. I love mine and especially because it tracks everything. I also use myplate for my food and it syncs to my watch so everything is together. Best thing ever! I only take it off to charge and if I'm doing things around Water.

Apple Watch I'm afraid is out of my price range. If I was willing to spend that kind of money I might be looking at a Garmin Fenix 3. :)

I'm really liking what I'm seeing with the Fitbit Blaze.

$199, has a heart rate monitor, uses your phones GPS (saving you money as getting a watch with its own gps adds like $50+ to the price tag). It looks nice to boot.

Comes out in March. Might wait for it... Debating.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
