Pregnancy after Bypass

Recommended Posts

I am 30 years old and am 8 months post bypass. I am in a relationship and we have been talking about having a baby in a year. Has anyone had a baby since their surgery? Any advice?

Hello! I just joined BariatricPal and saw your post. I got pregnant at 13 months post-RNY. While my husband and I had planned to have another baby, we were planning to wait until 18-24 months after my surgery, to make sure my weight had stabilized. Even though it happened sooner than planned, I had a successful pregnancy. My appetite nearly tripled (which was hard to handle emotionally but hey, I needed to feed the baby!) and I just had a couple more ultrasounds than usual. I gained about 35 pounds total, and the entire pregnancy was successful. My son is now 3 and is very happy and healthy. My advice would be to wait until your weight has stabilized, or at least until you're no longer losing rapid amounts of weight. And good luck :)

I love reading this! I've been unable to conceive and we're looking into adoption, but in my heart I'm hoping that weight-loss can help. That's not why I want the surgery. I'm having pain in my joints and having problems with my sugar. However, this gives me a glimmer of hope. I'm 36, but hoping maybe there is a miracle left before I hit 40. I'm just on the beginning of this journey though, so we'll see...

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
