Awesome, glad it's working for you. I don't have a fitbit else I'd look into it. I've got surgery on 2/2, I'm also 32 and was around 270 when I started preop. My first surgeon didn't require one but when I changed my new one did. Luckily I got a choice between liquid diet and regular food that's low carb/low fat.

Wow we are close in stats! I'm down to 276 with this diet. Let's keep each other posted - you're one day after me! :)

Yeah I put myself on a liquid diet for the most part but today I am mandatorily on all clears!!! So far so good! Glad you got to choose. A lot of people don't.

You might like a Fitbit later on when you start getting more active :) its addictive to see your steps and try to beat your records. Then you can add other people and challenge them - motivating. And the app on my iPhone lets me track food, weight loss, calories burned - the Fitbit even tracks your sleep and how well you slept (restlessness, waking up, etc).

Sounds like I own stock in the company eh? Lol.

I actually have a jawbone up that does much the same thing, but I had to stop wearing it when it started to give me a rash on my wrist. Apparently I didn't need to worry too much about the low carb thing after all because I got to the hospital and the surgeon okayed they giving me potatoes with dinner.< /p>

Yeah I've heard about those! And I've heard about the rashes from these things, even the Fitbit. That's awesome!!! Did they weigh you at all?

Ah!!! Discharged at 10am. Made it home at noon - stopped off at the pharmacy on the way home.

Drank a 15g Protein shake on the way home. Feeling good except I'm sore all over - arms and legs. My potassium was low yesterday so I think that's why.

Laying in bed now with a full Water bottle and a heated blanket. Hubby is nearby on his laptop - he's already offered Jello and a shake so I'm in good hands.

Oh - and doc said yesterday that I should be 15lbs heavier because of the IV. Well I got on the scale and I was down a lb! Yay!!!!!!!

This is so amazing!

@It's Time

I'm glad it's helpful! It is best to take in all you can and follow your surgeon's instructions to a T. That will ensure you have the best outcome. Having a hiatal hernia was unexpected because it didn't show up on the upper GI but I was aware of what it was and knew it was possible to be found - I signed a consent form saying he could fix it if I had one. I had read a lot about them on here so I was not shocked or freaked out. I'm really glad this forum exists. :)

Good luck on your upcoming procedure!!!!! You'll do amazing! :)

Day 3 is winding down. Managed 45g of Protein in total and so far 34oz of Fluid (including shakes). I'm going to drink 6 more oz of Water before i go to bed. That's the best I could do today.

Meant to post that last night lol

Day 4 - woke up. 3 pounds down! :)

Thank you ????

I am actually having a hernia repair as well and it's probably what freaks me out most but I'm ready for the journey

I do agree that we need to be knowledgeable going in and I have and definitely will continue following what the surgeon says - I need a smooth ride ????

Somewhat ready... when I think I am, then I doubt myself... Age old story, scared of the un-known... Do you mind me asking where in California do you live? I'm in Cathedral City, right next to Palm Springs...

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
